Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe & SAS

Thanks for the info. I've been eyeing the SAS controller on the new boards and wondered how well it was implemented. I've also got a K9A2 Platinum from AMD that supports SAS and would like to set up a pair of drives on it, but have been unable to find 29-pin SAS connectors to angled "SATA" that I wo...

Re: OF the two what one?

Hybrid SLI won't be able to help it catch up to the 4850. Also keep in mind that you're comparing current performance in folding. In the near future we'll be seeing proteins with a larger number of atoms. The Nvidia cards do not perform as well as the ATI cards on these new work units so you'll like...

Re: Lapping success! (56K warning)

Totally worth it, Bwall! If finding the right kinds of wetordry sandpaper is too tough, FrozenCPU has a lapping kit that might do the job (even though I needed to hit up WalMart for more 400 grit) Yeah, I've done my fair share of lapping, did a E6300, E6400, E6600, and a few heatsinks. I can get go...

It's common with this heatsink.

Thanks for the thread, I've been putting it off since I got mine in May '07 but you may have just inspired me.

Good catch on the processor speed. It was over clocked up to 3GHz (375x8), so not much of one! I've updated the hardware page with the info.

This is a much better board than the DS3R, and some say better than the Asus, all at the same price.

Re: Cheap OC with a Q9300

What do you consider "cheapish?" I picked up a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P and had pretty good luck clocking my Q9450 to 3.6 without doing a whole lot. It's around $140 and many consider it to be in the top 3 of quad overclocking boards. The UD3P is a dual PCI-E board, if you don't need two video cards you c...

Re: New Core downloaded for GPU2

DaIceMan, did you happen to look in the windows task manager to see if core 13 was using all cores or if it stays set like core 11 does, just using one core. If it starts using all four cores maybe that is why core 13 is running slower than core 11. Next time I look at the GPU2 client and it is wor...

Regardless of who's doing the work, and even if it violates the Stanford EULA, I'm glad that people that are doing the optional install. Vista Home Premium x-64 should be the OS for most of us here. Ultimate is just not worth the extra cost if you ask me.

It was a backlog clearing for sure, from the ten other teams I've looked at they all had a rather large spike yesterday.

Well, you've got to remember this card has been out for almost 4 months now and AIW development is much slower than that of your typical GPU.

Re: Way to go BWall (wickedld9)

Bringing this one back from the sorta dead. I have two new motherboards that I'm playing with, one is an RMA replacement that is going to be a nasty folding beast very soon. Anyway, the 9800 GX2, 9800 GTX, and GTX 260 are down for a day or two, just wanted to let you all know that's where the point ...
