Re: NVIDIA Forceware 180 Series Drivers Will Bring Big Changes
Psst, don't tell them you OCed and don't go for the max OC go for a good medium OC that keeps the temps down and it'll run for a long time. I hope the NVIDIA driver bump it up a little I'd like to see some better numbers out of my GTX-260. Even though I'm happy with it now a little more might bring ...

Re: Q6600 underclocked when it shouldn't be
To tell the exact setting for the Ram Voltage you'd need to post the part number of the kit. It's usually between 2.0 and 2.2 on a 1066 kit of ddr2. Depends on the timings of the kit, tighter timings usually mean higher voltage. If you can't find the kit number run Prime 95 for an hour or so and if ...

That's a pretty good FSB, hit 500 or above and your in a pretty exclusive club. Have you tried to stabilize that with an 8 multiplier? (I've got a new e8400 I'm playing with on a Gigabyte EP45T-Extreme board). I've hit 500 on a couple of the Extreme Water cooled chip set boards, but I don't run them...

How would you like to have that mounted on the wall? Make one heck of a conversation piece.

Chaney wasn't in the area was he? I don't blame him a bit for bartering that trade. Most don't have dental insurance and if you don't own land it very hard to find some place to hunt that is not full of nut jobs (like most gov. land). I drive almost 300 miles to our family farm to hunt. I tried to h...

Re: 2012 doomsday
Even though a few customers I know deserve to be targets probably not. I always figured that our ultimate demise would come from some act of stupidity on our own part. If nature (Through no fault of our own) or the forces of the cosmos get us first I'd be surprised. In the end though a post apocalyp...

So like if we are really fast we can roast a few marshmallows in the final minutes? (Some couple of billion years from now, surely by then the human race will have managed to die off).

I've been running a 4870/4850 Toxic Crossfire setup and it runs in the 13,000ish range, single 4870 8000ish. 3DMarks06 best run 19209 at 1280x1024.

Mass Riot/Party pretty close to the same thing. You'd think that mass extinction would kind of render the mass riots moot. Sure their might be some mass riots, if they happen in my neck of the woods there would be an outbreak of mass shootings. (Preferably from the roof while enjoying a 12 pack). If...

Re: 2012 doomsday
Actually the launching of a few dozen nukes would produce an over all cooling effect. Dust in the atmosphere reflecting light rays back into space. Other than the immediate effects of killing large portions of the population it's supposed to have much the same effect as a Volcano erupting. Enough nu...

Re: ati radeon hd 4870 Crossfire X problems
Download and install AMD GPU Clocking tool, it'll show you the temps of both cards but you have to enable it. Some times in Crossfire the bottom card heats up the top after a while and they artifact. I got artifacting until I went to a 4870 on top and a 4850 Toxic under. Two 4870s gradually heated a...

Re: Im getting tired of seeing so many damn ISSUES!!!
If it's got tires, boobs or a keyboard it's eventually going to give you problems. I really haven't had any Vista issues for a while, but I still dual boot XP/Vista just to keep down time to a minimum. Truthfully I'd get my save games and data off and format that thing and reload it. Trying to track...

Re: Sneak Peek at Upcoming E8600 Article
I just run them up to stock (Max) voltage myself the 45nm degrade to fast under high volts. I have bumped them to 1.45 for a test or two but with vdroop they read under 1.4. (Same mobo he's using the ep45-Extreme series, good boards) I pulled a 4.5 on the e8400 stock volts with Thermalright Ultra 12...

I'm pretty sure that back in the 70s After a party I woke up next to a female bigfoot. Can't say for sure it might have been some thing in the punch.
Personally I'd think if they had pictures they would have been released (sold) immediately. After all Pics or it didn't happen.

Re: To Upgrade or Not to Upgrade
Thanks I did a 4850 and a 4870, now I'm doing a 4850 crossfire, and 4870/4850 crossfire (only at 1680 x 1050). I have 3 Gigabyte high end boards to do so I've got to turn and burn. Their the water cooled chip set boards. (Two any way the other is a p45) Every once in a while (after heavy code) the f...

Re: To Upgrade or Not to Upgrade
Hey Geo Of the available choices I'd do a 4850 then later if you need more Crossfire another when prices drop. I've Crossfired the 4850s and a 4870/4850 and one will run you pretty good. One plays Crysis really nice and I just Crossfired them cause I had them around. Running two was a snap, took all...

There's not much difference between the sound card and on board sound these days. I've got a Creative X-FI and don't use it because unless your an audiophile you'll be happy with on board.
I use Logitec 5.1 surround with on board and it'll rattle the windows.

I've got (and run) an 8800 GT, a GTX-260, 2 Sapphire 4850 Toxics in Crossfire, and a Sapphire 4870, the Toxics in Crossfire turn out some good numbers in Synthetics but their kinda craptastic in games. Maybe 6-9 FPS increase, but in 3Dmark Vantage just about doubled the score to 12000 (up from 6 som...
