Re: No G45 until Sept???

Gigabyte has 14 P45 boards. I've got this one http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2831 the EP45-DQ6 and it runs like a dream. It's not Matx but Matx boards are always limited function/feature boards. I'd spring for a case that will handle a larger form fa...

Re: The ten Commandments of gaming

They forgot the #1 commandment of gaming. "Thou shalt not stand still whilst in active combat." Trust me I know when my dog comes running across the room (all 4 Lbs of him) and makes a flying leap at my lap in a firefight I have to catch him, in the process of letting go of the mouse and keyboard re...

Re: Urgent help needed

You know it's freak out time when you find water in the Puter. Trust me I've seen auction computers that had water dripping out of them and as long as they dry out real well before shooting the juice to them their fine. I had a buddy move a shop and the bay window leaked all over a stack of Old P3's...

Re: Asus P5k EPU, P5k PRO, P5KC?

I like the P5KC well enough that I'm keeping it for my backup rig, it's not real great with DDR3 at higher frequencies but with ddr2 800 running at 1:1 with the FSB at 400 it's pretty nice. When I run my Mushkin ddr3 12800 at the rated 1600 Mhz the NB gets smokin hot and active cooling has a hard ti...

Re: Vid Card Suggestions/Recommendations for 1920x1200

If you can go with a GTX-260 (they've been spotted at $260) there a phenomenal bargain for a great GPU. I got the Leadtek WinFast GTX-260 and it clocks to 711/1101 no problem but at 576/999 it still rocks. Originally I'd have picked a different card but after the recent price drops I'd say GTX-260. ...

Re: Caffeine Withdrawal Really Sucks

Congratulations on getting past the worst of it. Problem is it's in so many products you've really gotta be careful about what you buy. I can get past Cola but Coffee not much chance getting past that for me.

I had to give up on Norton when it started causing more problems than it solved.

The character would be Darth Vader, sweet looking setup, I just got a GTX-260 and I've gotta say I'm liking it.

Re: new motherboard installed, but won't boot.

Again not the brightest suggestion but:

Is the front panel power switch hooked up correctly? If it's not the board isn't getting a signal to turn on.

Re: slower PCIE bus

I've been dealing with PCI-E 1.0/2.0 since it came out. The latest round starts today with a new Gigabyte premium p45 board with a water cooled chip set. Previously best I could get out of my 8800gt on PCIE 2.0 was 12500. Needed a ddr3 board and could only afford an Asus board with PCI-E 1.0, ended ...

Re: x38 VS x48 VS p35

Never had a blown cap in 25 years. In a confidential document I get on motherboards (we can discuss it but not share it), they were showing blown caps on Asus boards. No telling what they did to make them blow. By the time a regular cap blows the board is obsolete any way (in most cases). I do have ...

The company rep which isn't always the best source says it's the best Over Clocker they've ever built (of course that was after slandering my beloved Asus for several minutes).

If you believe Gigabyte Asus is using non-Japanese solid caps on some of their boards (shrug).

Well I ended up with a Gigabyte p45 ep45 extreme:

Hybrid Heatpipe/water cooled mobo. Not sure if the one I'm getting is ddr2 or 3 but I got both so I'm set for a while.

Re: x38 VS x48 VS p35

They have some good numbers. With me it doesn't matter much most of my stuff gets sold in a few months as the machine evolves. I'd probably hold the q6600 and the e8400 as classic over clockers anyway. Lettem work the bugs out then a price drop and I'll be looking at the new CPUs. I jumped on an 880...
