Re: Windows Sucks and more about Solus Operating System

I play with Linux on my Raspberry PI's, other than that, too much software I need is not on Linux yet, not with out running virtual machines, and that, well, defeats the purpose. Until I can get all my CAD and Photo/Video software running on Linux (Looking at you Autodesk and Adobe) then I'm stickin...

Re: Thoughts on replacing internal bluray or getting external

Yup, run the stock "normal" profile. Good all around file size for all devices. That and I don't have a massive TV so the files look fine. Hell 95% of the time its running on a second monitor while I work on main monitor. Daughter watches everything on her tablet, the boy on his TV/PC/Phone.. larges...

Re: Thoughts on replacing internal bluray or getting external

Doubt 2.0 will be fast enough. If you use Cyberlink for your burning software you would get the "haven't received a response from the drive blah blah blah" error, still burns, but takes for dam ever. as for conversion.. I rip everything with AnyDVD to the disk, then convert with Handbrake to M4V. Pl...

Re: Windows 10 problems with locking up

Win10 defaults to desktop, not the tile screen like Win8 did. It does/can auto switch when it doesn't see a physical keyboard. Win10 is growing on me. still dumb that some of the control panel stuff is hard to get to than before... growing pains of making a universal UI I guess. Open office is meh f...

Re: Windows 10 problems with locking up

It was turned into a "recommended" update from an optional update. If you had auto update on, with "also install recommended updates" you would get up one morning and find yourself starring at the Win 10 greeting screen. If running Win10 Home there is no way to stop any updates, Pro you can slow it ...

Re: Seagate BarraCuda Pro 10TB HDD Review

They have a long way to go to get my trust back. One too many failed drives. They might be getting better, but I don't know. I think most hard drive companies got a bad reputation when many were putting the lowest priced 'green' hard drives in a NAS and were killing them. Now with specialized firmw...

Aside from trust issues, doubt I would use a drive that large.. maybe after they mature a bit. For now I will stick with a large RAID in my NAS.

Not that anyone might care, but the helmets for these guys was made by Ted Smith. He goes by the name Evil Ted. He is well known for making costume armor. The helmets are made of foam like those puzzle piece floor mats you can buy. http://www.legitreviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/e3_2016_babes...

Re: Vista/7 Key

I had this issue with an AMD system. There was issues with an windows update breaking the validation system and making the key not genuine with Win7. I had a hell of a time with it on my work desktop. Every few days the fix would stop working. Tried reinstalling and it persisted.. Got fed up with it...

Re: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition Video Card Review

I'm digging the 1070, looks like it will fit my needs nicely. Now to see what the non-founders cards are like...

EK has waterblocks for the 1080 Founders card, hoping they will make one for non-founders cards. really nice if they make one for the 1070's as well.

Re: Minimalist 4K

Yeah, I know two ways I can go is putting a better GPU that actually supports the resolution (you are right that 460 doesn't) or new-gen motherboard/CPU combo are the ways to go. Wanted to know if anyone has good experience with 4K on lower-end components, like, for example, if passive-cooled GPUs ...

Re: Minimalist 4K

ehh.. haswell CPUs can play 4K video with the integrated graphics.

Cram as much RAM into that system you can, and slap a GTX7xx series card in there should be fine.

Gamming at 4K, thats a WHOLE other issue.

Re: Thermaltake Core X2 water cooled build

Got fittings in, tubing ran, and been running the pump to bleed air from the loop and leak testing. In the process things got added to the "To-Do" list. -Shorten pump power wires, and sleeve the RPM lead. -Make up/buy SATA power extensions for SSD's. Stock power supply cables are too stiff. -Rig up ...
