Re: Phenom worth it?

It's a cheap way to get to quadcore if you need it. Gaming still does good with dual cores. Been a price drop on the retail Phenom 9600 black again. You can find it for $225 now. Retail Q6600 is holding steady at 270+.

Re: NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT Priced at $169 and $189

I agree, the price is set a little high. I think it should be $10-20 lower. The price is too close to the 8800GT. We'll have to see the performance to see if the pricing is justified.

Re: AMD processor that can rival Intel now?

Umm, you must have missed sting's post. He said he wanted to be set for 3-4 years. If that's the case he really should get a PCI-E 2.0 motherboard. I can't imagine still running out of 1.0 3-4 years from now. Of course there people out there still running AGP8x so it is possible.

Re: AMD processor that can rival Intel now?

Looks like first generation Phenoms have been scrapped. 9700 and 9900 are now officially in the trash can. Look for 9750 and 9950 sometime at the end of summer. AMD cannot seem to get production chips to run above 2.4 without failing, I wonder if they will sell them as 9600s, hmmm. Might be a big ov...

Re: 3870 X2 Vs 8800 GTS G92 SLI

There are advantages to having both chips on a card instead of running 2 cards in SLI. 1) You only need 1 slot. 2) The Bridge chip is on the 3870X2 and it runs right out of the box. The only thing you need worry about is driver support for it to maximize its potential. 3) It is more power efficient ...

Re: buying a new mother board

You got alot of choices. How soon do you need to upgrade? If immediately then get a MSI 790FX or another 770X or 790X board($100-150) with the Phenom 9500($190+), get DDR2 800(cause you can get 2 gigs for $30-35 after rebate). Forget about OC cause Phenom will not OC. This is way you have a quad cor...

Re: January Forum Drawing - ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 Video Card!

I love ATI. Nice to see them make a comeback against Nvidia. I sooo need this card. Been using ATI since 9700PRO days. This is just what I need for my new system build. Hope the driver issues are all worked out soon.
