Re: are u divx enabled.

2 DVD players and 1 DVD Recorder, all of them DivX certified. Supposedly 4 total but I gave an old DVP642 to my cousin when I bought the DVP5982. Even when limited to USB 1.1 speeds, being able to watch directly from a USB hard drive is darned convenient. Unfortunately, DivX certified players don't ...

Re: New Mp3/video player?

Well the 30Gb Zen was a lot bigger than the 4-16Gb (Flash) Zens, and they're much thinner and smaller than the 30Gb, and the 4-16Gb Zens do have SD Card slots. Looking at current Amazon prices, the 16GB model seems like a good buy at $180. For most people, 16GB is enough to contain their music coll...

Re: PSP gets GPS accessories.

Just a warning, MapThis! doesn't have routing capabilities yet. You need to save routes downloaded from Google or Yahoo or something via a program (GMDL) and copy them over to your memory stick before your trip - meaning if you miss a turn, that's just too bad. As a replacement to Thomas Guide, it w...

Re: hello

How about unvolting that laptop as yours? Overclocking aint nice on laptops, but undervolting is the way to go if you want better battery life and lower heat output. The E2160 will overclock really sweetly and won't make you sweat at all! I don't have to. The laptop (Toshiba Satellite U305) does it...

Re: New Mp3/video player?

The Zune "Nanos" are flash-based and come in 4GB and 8GB variants. Zune 80GB is hard-drive based and so are the old 30GB models. I've seen the 30GB Zunes go on sale at Amazon from time to time. Around Thanksgiving and Christmas last year, I remember they had it for $89.99. I still have an ...

Re: offsite networking

Your aunt can get a pseudo-static address from DynDNS.org, No-IP.com, TZO.com, etc. There are usually options in routers to automatically update the IP address associated with the hostname. You can do VPN via software or you can buy expensive routers with built-in VPN. Last I checked, the ones from ...

Re: PSP gets GPS accessories.

THANX! Excellent and helpful little review!!!! I would have never guessed about interference or that it would take so long to aquire sat signals! If it takes that long, it is VERY worthless! I wonder if you leave it turned on 24/7 if it keeps the connections? Say you are going on a trip and want to...

Re: Budget Laptop

Springing an extra $100~$200 would probably give your mom a significant performance boost over bottom of the barrel offerings. However, she might not need that extra performance. If you can get a brand-new laptop with Windows XP for $400 (I forgot if the Vostro 1000 can be installed with XP), then b...

Re: Buying A Preconfigured System...Thoughts

I've never tried ibuypower.com, but I have bought from cyberpowerpc.com and it's great. Since you're going for relatively higher end, those might be better choices than the big box names. The only computers I'll buy from big box companies are either laptops or those extremely cheap models at $399 wi...

Let's see ... 1,200 tax return for me 1,200 tax return for wife 2,100 tax return kids = 300x7 4,500 total return to stimulate the economy! :P That's actually 1,200 combined for you and your wife. Unless both of you are also married to other people and are married filing jointly with the other two. ...

Re: best valued intel for price range

Not really sure how long you plan on keeping your PC. If it's a relatively long time technology-wise, then go quad. If it's just around a year or so, then choose the E6750. If you're lucky enough to find an E8400 going for the same price as the E6750 (iirc, they're supposed to be at the same price p...

Welcome matey. Too bad you aren't an overclocker... yet :supz: Enjoy your stay Thanks. :D Lol, the laptops are running hot as it is. Besides, my internet browsing isn't going to be any faster even if I overclock. I'll probably overclock the E2160 a bit once I've received all the parts for that rig ...

Re: Should I get a PSP?

The Lexar 4GB pro duos are often on sale at Fry's for $35. Sandisk ones are rarely on sale, but if you're lucky, you can catch them at $35, too. Check out the weekly ads for local retailers. Personally, I prefer Sandisk over Lexar. Genuine 8GB sticks can be had for around $100. Sony's supposed to re...

Re: PSP gets GPS accessories.

I imported the official PSP GPS receiver from Japan last year. You can buy the receiver with mapping software or by itself. I bought just the receiver and used it with the homebrew program Map This! I'm now an owner of a Magellan Maestro 3140. My main complaint with the receiver is it's very slow at...
