Re: Windows 7 exclusively 64 bit

Didn't they want to make Vista 64-bit only as well only to change it b/c of the "pressure" put on them by other companies and consumers?

I like this news. Kudos MS.

Re: New PC building Specifications

I'd get a SATA DVD-Multi drive, they're dirt cheap and the thinner cables will be much easier to handle in your case, keep it cleaner too.

Re: Gaming Mouse Pads

Update:

I got rid of my pad and just have my mouse sitting on my desk and it's actually better! It's more comfortable, no size restrictions, and no problems with reaction speed.

Looks like I saved myself a bit of cash.

Gaming Mouse Pads

Got a question...is there any advantage to having a special "gaming" mouse pad versus a standard one?

Also, got any links to good ones?

Thanks.

Re: AMD Continues its Technology Leadership Employing GDDR5

I had heard the new 4870 was going to have GDDR5, but this sounds like all of the 4000-series will have it to me! Or at least most of them. I guess GDDR4 is gonna be almost completely skipped since the only card I've seen with it is the 3870. Doesn't nVidia use almost entirely GDDR3? Even on their 9...

Unless I'm mistaken, that's an Intel chipset (P35) motherboard and it WILL NOT support SLI. It will only support Crossfire (ATI cards).

Re: need crossfire help ???

For Crossfire to work, you have to have a Crossfire-capable motherboard with a second PCIe 16x slot. If you do, you need to buy the same card as what you have now. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have to be the same manufacturer, but you should get the same card (1950XTX 512MB) and similar speeds. If the...

Dag, I really can't wait to see the full results and reviews of this card. If these are correct, I'm gonna love getting one of those puppies.

LOL on primaraly english speaking forums you should stick with calling them Internet Cafes's. Re: U.S. lags behind in broadband infrastructure

it's really ridiculous that Korea's infrastructure is that much better than ours Yup, gotta love that about living here. It's actually one of the few nice things about living here. Korea is insane, about 30% have fiber or LAN Yeah, I'd say that's actually on the low side. I'd say the total amount o...

Re: Sapphire HD2600 / Ati Radeon X300 CrossFire Help

I would agree that a 3650 would be better. The 2600XT, unless I'm not remembering correctly, is only a 128-bit interface, whereas the 3650 is 256-bit. Getting a 512MB 2600XT is overkill from my understanding and it's not going to be able to use the memory efficiently with that small of an interface....

Re: Sapphire HD2600 / Ati Radeon X300 CrossFire Help

I know the new 3-series cards can be mixed and matched with the new AMD7-series MOBOs, but not sure about the older cards. I had an x300 for a while, just swapped it out for a 2600XT a few months ago and it was a good upgrade. My x300 didn't have a crossfire bridge. It might be possible if you use t...

Re: Help me choose a processor

With overclocking ruled out (which is a shame, as the core 2 processors shine at this and it is really easy), the newer E8k series of chips perform on average 6% faster than the same clocked E6k processor. If I were building a machine now and knew it had to last a good long time, I'd want to go Qua...

Help me choose a processor

Hello everyone. I'm getting close to building a new machine to replace my 3-year old P4 3Ghz system. I have pretty much decided on everything but the processor. I'm trying to stay in a budget of $1000 for everything, including LCD, Mouse, Tower, keyboard, etc. My current plan is this: Gigabyte P35-D...

Re: GeForce 9800 GTX Reader Poll

Exactly what happened to me, I have been looking to upgrade my 8800GTS 320mb for awhile now, but I'm not going to spend that kind of money unless it's another future proof chip. G80 lasted two years, I want my next GPU to last just as long, or at least come close. I don't want rebadged hardware. I ...

Wow, I'm very impressed by the cable management you pulled off. That's making me jealous.

Oh yeah, about the PSU, hope it works out. Even if not, no big loss if it blows (and doesn't take everything with it)!

I was actually looking forward to this card before it came out. I was thinking of building an uber-machine and was thinking that a brand-spanking-new 9800GTX would be great! Then, I read a review and it's nothing special. It seems like they launched it just so they could have a higher numbered card ...

I'm living in South Korea right now. I guess I should explain what I'm planning to use the machine for, that might help.
