Re: What time is it?

Okay everyone, I'm here to pitch a lucrative new timepiece to all of you. It will not measure the time of the day, week, month or year. Its sole purpose will be to inform it's wearer of their current state of mortality. I call it the Corpse-Watch. Are they alive, or dead? There will be a small senso...

Re: 4pin 12V PSU cable length

how are you liking the behemoth that is the 1200. I'm enjoying it very much. I've always been very anal about the cable management within my case and my previous Antec 900 was not conducive to an organized layout. The Twelve hundred, as you very appropriately dubbed it, is indeed a behemoth. The sp...

Re: 4pin 12V PSU cable length

I don't think that PSU manufacturers have taken the bottom-mounting PSU cases into consideration, because I had to buy one of those extenders to connect my motherboard inside my Antec Twelve Hundred case. :)

Re: IRON MAN

Iron Man has established a very strong second place on my comic-to-movie list, Batman Begins is still #1. My one complaint about this movie has to be *SPOILER ALERT!!* Obadiah's corny one-liners after he dons the Iron Monger suit. "I love this!" Could anyone else detect the copious ...

Re: New computer build, would like opinions, plz.

I have also read that the 790i from eVga is still working out some BIOS issues. So you will save your self some possible trouble there too. I realize that every situation is different, but I just wanted to let you know that my experience with the EVGA 790i board has been great, no bios problems wha...

Re: Crude Oil Climbs to Record Above $129

I saw a news piece the other day about two brothers who had taken a Toyota Prius and modified it with extra batteries so as to allow it's MPG to reach 98-100! Granted, the reliability is probably a little so-so, but if two guys can do this in their garage I think a multi-billion dollar car company s...

Re: Just wondering what Intel CPU

The Q9450 is an exceptional CPU. Its relatively cheap at 350-370. It's stock speed is 2.66, but I've got it running rock solid at 3.8. Hopefully, when I get some more time to try, I'm going to get it running at 4.0Ghz. :)

Re: First Computer Build

I agree with slugbug's suggestion about the 8800GTs, they've got a little more bang-for-your-buck than the 9600s. I also agree with DaIceMan, you'd probably get the same, if not better, performance out of X-fi's extreme gamer card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102006 Plus...

Re: Random blue screen and restart- M3A32-MVP Deluxe

Do you happen to know of any descriptions and or instructions that explain how to read and understand Memtest? I've tried it on a few setups, but I'm not sure what to look for to see if the memory failed or passed. There were quite a few 'failed' and 'passed' messages that seemed to reset and change...

Re: Did I just fry this motherboard?

I had a similar problem with the very first computer I assembled. I would turn it on, watch the fans spin for about 2-3 seconds, then it would shut off. It actually turned out to be a short between my motherboard and case. I tightened one of the motherboard screws down too tight causing the board to...

Re: Random blue screen and restart- M3A32-MVP Deluxe

I would also suggest checking if there are any BIOS updates for your motherboard. I had a similar problem recently; despite obtaining the latest drivers for all the components, the blue screen struck like clockwork every time a particular program was opened. I updated the motherboard's BIOS and it h...

Re: Overclocking and memory question

It could definitely be your memory. I recently bought a new motherboard, CPU, and memory (OCZ) with the intent to significantly over-clock. Like you, I could not get a stable over-clock over a certain point; a point I knew I should be able to surpass. After countless attempts to tweak voltage and ot...

Re: Starting up with GF6200

Have you tried installing the suspect card in a different system?

Also, when you say that it won't boot, do you mean that the computer itself will not turn on, or can you hear the fans going yet nothing is booting on the screen? :-k

Re: Rant about Windows Vista

"Windows has problems running this version of software....". I understand and agree with what you're saying about Vista's compatibility issues, they really need to work out the kinks, especially with a well-used program like Reader. However, isn't it a bit more responsible of them to at l...

Re: Vista or hold out for Windows 7?

I'd choose Windows Vista if I were you, for the sole reason that Microsoft is turning most of their attention to trying to salvage it's abysmal launch. My two biggest gripes with Vista have been fixed; the user account control can be turned off, and the file transfer speeds have been improved immens...

I too am an 'I'm-OCD-but-not-really-OCD' type of person, so I applaud your work. =D> Very nice job with the ide cable on the first shot! Those nasty 'lasagna noodles' have always frustrated me, I'll definitely try your folding method next time I encounter one.

I haven't touched my GPU, it is running at stock speeds. I'll try the Prime95 when I get home from work today, I'm not sure if that option was checked or not.
