Re: To Upgrade or Not to Upgrade
Luckily I'll be away from my moms starting in september :partyman: . So my brother has a Athlon 3800+, 2 gigs of ddr400, and when upgrading from my old X1900XT - which I gave him after I got my 4850 - to his new 4850, it still gave a great performance jump even over the 1900XT. He's mostley playing ...

Re: When To Do Folding War Part Duex
Ah darn ... didn't think before I voted ( got 20th now ) ](*,) . But since y'all seem to want to start in september the 15th of August probably is out of question. My apprenticeship will start on the 1st of September and university start a few weeks later, so I'll have to pay the energy bill all alo...

Re: Post your war folding farms
That depended on how long I was home , which isn't always the same since school is over 2 months already and university doesn't start till september. between 1 and 16 hours.DMB2000uk wrote:how many hours a day?
Dan
I'd say a 24 hour on time would create about 1600 points.

Re: Sata II with ATA100?
I don't think it should downgrade your performance, since you still got 100 Mb/s and my raid 0 system with two WD500 got a burst speed of about 130 Mb/s, so one drive should definetly be under 100 Mb/s.

Re: Why is my GPU folding sleeping?
I only get that problem if I'm not connected to the internet. So I assume it's probably the folding servers, if you have a connection, it took about an hour once until it got the next WU, just let it run on.

I don't believe the pins would all have melted of even at 100°C and I doubt your prozessor is that hot^^.

Re: New future build, comments, OCable quadcore, many questions.
16x4 means the first card in Crossfire has a PCIe 16 connection to the mobo ( more bandwidth) and the second gets a 4 connection ( a fourth of the 16 in bandwidth speed). At 8x8 both cards get 8 so they have the same data bandwidth to the mobo, the 4 could pull down the performance a bit.

Re: New future build, comments, OCable quadcore, many questions.
The Q6600 is easily overclocked, two of my friends got them. Only have to adjust the FSB frequency and easily get 3,0Ghz without anything else, provided you have a good cooler. The other got his to 3,6 Ghz with extra voltages. The mobo supports Crossfire. i believe you can get the frequency higher o...

That seems most likely to me. Lets see if anybody else has a different solution for this, but if there aren't any I'd say get them to buy you a new card.

Re: ATI Radeon x1950 Pro Problem, please help.
That would lead me to believe you need a new grafic card. I had a similar problem with my GeForce 6800 some time ago, I accidently bent some stuff on the grafic card and after that only the 2D mode ( desktop etc.) worked and crashed on 3D mode. I didn't have vista back then and my pc didn't restart ...

Yeah should work that way, but I found the easiest to do is with a MIDI to USB adapter, which works fine with my e- piano and computer.
