Re: Is my graphics card onboard?

You most likely have a dedicated video card, since as far as I know there is no 8500gt onboard any motherboard. :) If you want to check the last 1 % open up your case and see if there is a card in it, if there is a card in the first top slot, you have a dedicated video card. Onboard chips are quite ...

Re: 4650 or 8600 gts?

Well the rest of the rig isn't very much, he's got an Athlon 3500+ OCed, one HDD and one DVD drive and thats about it, so there's nothing else that could drain much power.
Crossfire definetly won't work, but if you don't have a lot of other stuff or a very power hungry CPU you should be fine.

Re: What security software do you use?

I'm running AVAST as well. I'm using it because I never had problem with my pc again after i first installed it 2-3 years ago. Before that I had Avira for about a month, which just missed everything there is out there. And my first was Norton 2005 and my pc was always buisy running that crappy progr...

Re: Dell vs. Home Rigs

Well my firt own built rig is still running, even after 2 years of beloning to my brother now, and 2 years being my rig before that. There's still the same Athlon64 3500+ (OCed 25%) with stock amd heatsink in it, Asrock mainboard (which has AGP and PCIe), the Samsung Harddrive as well as the Pioneer...

Re: 4650 or 8600 gts?

I couldn't find a direct comparison between the two, but performance wise the 4670 brings about 180% to 250% of the 8600 gts. It's not a big step down from the 4670 to the 4650, so I'd say it will still be on top of the 8600 gts. :)

What will the main purpose for this graphic card be?

Hey Major, your AMD build won't work. You put a AM2+ Processor on an AM3 Mainboard, just the other way around works.

This is just an example and it's actually the best combo I could come up with, while staying in your price range. http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=11940426 You forgot the blu ray writer in your list, which adds another 160$ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product...

As long as you take an independantly powered hub, you shouldn't have any problems. I got two from hama and one from Sepia and never had a problem with either. :)

Re: 8800GTS folding 4850 Gaming

So now I've downloaded Sun VirtualBox and tried to install an OS, but neither XP or 7 go beyond the setup screen, even after 2 hours of waiting :-k . Any Ideas what I've done wrong?

I tried to hook up my second monitor to the 8800, but that just stayed blank and I couldn't set anything to display on it.

What VM could you recommend?

Do I need to install XP or 7 on that to do GPU folding?

Ok I got them both built in now and the drivers installed right. The GPU Folding on ATI is still working right but the second client says I don't have a supported GPU. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s26/Nukit/pic01.jpg Although the 8800 drivers still don't seem to be right. 8800GTS folding 4850 Gaming

Hey guys, I just got an old 8800GTS from a friend since he bought himself an XFX 4890 Black Edition and doesn't need it anymore. So I was wondering, since i've got my 4850 for folding and gaming right now, if it's possible to run the 8800 GTS 640 aside the 4850 without mayor problems? So the 8800 wo...

I second Major_A on this.

I just thought that since you'd wanted it to last the next three years a dualcore wouldn't be a bad Idea, so here's what I'd get.

After the rebate you'd be at 201.94 $

Sounds like a good idea.

Although I don't know if I can raise my daily points, since I'm already folding 24/7 with one GPU(except for when I do gaming) and two CPUs, and thats all I got.
