One of the most beneficial of 16x is when your video card has only 256mb of memory or less(faster access to system ram). Other than that, there is slight difference. Get the GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L, its only $80, supports awesome overclocking, 100% solid capacitors for a long life. Also supports quad cores etc.

Definitely make sure your PSU is up to your new board(Check the amps especially). I made the mistake with my current system by having an underpowered PSU.
