Re: Scout Update Out Now!!!

Its a fast paced game so in large matches like 16 vs 16, the stun is going to get very annoying, very fast. Especially how long it lasts. Its also too easy to aim, imo. if it stuns that long and you're able to do it that often, it should be hard as mess to actually hit them. Its going to get annoyin...

Re: Red Alert 3

Lemme know if yall ever want to play, or still even play for that matter. A friend and I play on a regular basis, mainly online 2v2s and 1v1s though. We did the co-op thing, which was very fun but ended up going to online 2v2s and stuff pretty fast since that's where our main interests lie. I agree ...

GTX260 - 55nm

Supposedly GTX 260's bought in December will be 55nm models.

If this is true, is the wait of another month worth it?

I plan to be building/buying a new system next friday. I don't really want to wait, but I would if it's worth it. I would just suck it up and keep using my 7950gt for a while.

GTX260 On Low Res

I am going to be buying/building a new comp next week. Probably going to go with the E8500, 4gb DDR1066, and a GTX260 and other various parts, just putting the main ones. I do play older games sometimes and i hear that they are not very SLI friendly so I don't really ever intend on going to SLI beca...

Re: E8500 on DDR2 Performance

And the E8500 wouldn't need to be overclocked to keep up performance? Also, what I meant was, 1066 CL5 or 800 CL 4. They are about the same price.

Re: E8500 on DDR2 Performance

A Q6600 wouldn't be a better choice for a long term use? Since I don't update but every like... 2 years? I'm just nervous about new stuff on the horizon doing better with more cores. And the performance increase of an E8500 over the Q6600 is marginal right now anyways isn't it? And are you sure gett...

Re: E8500 on DDR2 Performance

Well yup, ya'll lost me. Doesn't bother me though, I don't care to try and understand it that deeply. It was, however, interesting to read and follow to the best of my ability. I still haven't decided on a processor for under $200 :P I was like... yes the e8500. Wait.. what about the tri-core from a...

Re: E8500 on DDR2 Performance

My head hurts, I'm sick and tired of thinking of this lol. I'm debating between getting the AMD Phenom 9950 and the E8500. AMD seems like a good choice since it doesn't even use FSB. So a lower RAM wouldn't matter. However, like you said, the performance drop is not even noticeable. Also looked at t...

Re: E8500 on DDR2 Performance

The FSB is accessed 4 times per cycle, not 4 times per MHz. The ram is accessed twice per cycle. So, if you want to set the ratio (CPU:RAM not FSB:RAM) to 1:1, you're better off getting RAM that can function at the speed of the FSB.

Re: E8500 on DDR2 Performance

You will be just fine with 800Mhz RAM. I recommend a 4GB 800Mhz CL4 kit. Because of the way the internal frequencies work in a PC, the FSB is actually at 333Mhz (it's accessed 4 times per Hz), and the RAM would actually be at half of whatever it's rated speed is (it's accessed 2 times per Hz). So i...

Yeah that's what is keeping me from just going for the Thermaltake modular, because the Corsair is better quality, in my opinion.

Re: E8500 on DDR2 Performance

On a side note, do you see any conflicts with the parts I am buying? As far as compatibility. This will just be my second build and I am not extremely knowledgeable with all of this.
