Re: Prospective New Build

I store mostly compressed avi movies on my caviar green's. But I have a few HD .mkv files on there, as well as some that are just plain image dumps. Never had a stutter in my video playback, so I doubt you will too - especially with your setup. AFAIK, its generally the processor that can bottleneck ...

2. Take my chances with the Q6600 - $200 Sorry, I'm not too keen on AMD's latest offerings. How extreme do you want to go with your overclocking? Any goals? The Q6600 is supposed to OC from 2.4 to 3.0 easily. and 3.6 with some work. If you want to push it past the 4.0 mark, that's where investing i...

Re: Vista 64 and good sound card

I've been using the X-Fi Titanium ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102019 ) and it is splendid when you enable the surround for music/entertainment mode. I think its probably more expensive than the Xonars, but I know it works with surround well. (I haven't even switched ov...

Still looking for input on a good router and the Barracuda 1.5 TB if anyone has two cents to throw in! Also, am I right in thinking that on a ASUS P6T Delxe a SAS connector can be utilized as a SATA connection but not vica versa? Looking at the specs on newegg, it includes two SAS inputs. Taking a ...

Maybe it would be a good idea to sell it and get a nice tower cooler. One of those Noctua NH-U12P's would be perfect for your needs I'm actually planning on parting out my computer (CPU, cooler, MB, RAM) by the end of the year, or just selling the whole thing. Intel has a program for retail workers...

You can contact them to have them send you a new bios chip.
Its not too hard to install, hardest part is wedging the old chip out.. heh.

Re: Critique this uberbudget build ($650 inc S&H)...

As long as you aren't planning on overclocking this too hard, it should be fine. Stock cooling provides enough to keep the CPU cool, and the case has enough air flowing through it, so the cooler won't be too noticeable nose-wise over the rest of the fans (hopefully). For the GPU, I'd recommend spend...

Wow. I'm sure you had your reasons for getting that HSF but wow xD Crazy looking machine you have there, sir! At least your components are high-end and your cable management is better than most :supz: Twas under the impression that bigger is better. Its more of a HTPC type of a cooler though since ...

Re: acer wont let me go pass 3gig in 64bit os

Check the MB's max memory. I recently upgraded some ram for my friend. He bought one of the cheap-o laptops some black friday ago. We bought 2 x 2GB of ram, but the computer would not boot with 4. 1 2GB stick was fine. I tried 1 2GB with 1 512MB and no boot. I later looked it up on HP's website, and...

Haha I guess this will be my intro to the LR forums :] This is my dorm room setup. Specs are in the sig. I have an affinity with cable ties. Notice the ghetto fan mod to the back of the case, stuck in place with cable ties. You'll soon see why I had to move the rear case fan.. outside the case. #-o ...

Re: abit a-n78hd mainboard

I don't blame you. I've had issues using a $300 board (ABIT IN9 32X-MAX) from them in the past. ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813127020 ) It advertised it was ready to run 1333fsb on the box. Wasn't a sticker, but it was printed on the box. So being an early adopter, I sold...

Re: Prospective New Build

Just a suggestion (I know you already ordered), but I have heard of plenty of problems with the 4850x2. And there are even more with the 4870x2. For general use, a single 4870 will be able to power your 1080p screen for slightly less than the 4850x2. It'll also be able to give you some eye candy in ...

Press the start button and 'r'. Type in "msconfig" and press enter. Under "Startup selection" select the button labeled "Diagnostic startup". Click the "OK" button and then reboot your computer. See if the hourglass comes back. If so, then reformatting the computer is probably a good idea. After you...

Re: Super Talent 16GB Pico Flash Drive

Just a suggestion:
You should compare this flash drive to Sony's MicroVault drives.
But Sony's only go to 4GB large, so maybe for an apples to apples comparison, compare Sony's to Super Talent's to find out who's minuscule drive is superior? :]
