Re: Wireless adapter advice

Thanks for the link to the search. I was hoping to see a specific recommendation so could you possibly narrow that down to the one you personally use? Thanks

PS I have been clicking through the LR links for all my purchases since I joined, its my pleasure to do so!

Re: Wireless adapter advice

USB would be nice, but I have available PCI slots. My HTPC currently has Win7-64 on it, and this box is currently XP but as soon as I find an adapter that will work with Win7 it will also get Win7-64. The other two boxes are just my kids boxes and they do just fine with WinXP and their WUSB54G adapt...

Wireless adapter advice

I need to add a couple of wireless adapters to my network. I need something that will work with Win7. Currently I only have a Linksys WRT54GL and the adapters I currently have only do drivers up to WinXP so I would like to find something that is compatible with my Linksys Router and Win 7. Obviously...

So, now that you have reviews for two HD media boxes which one would you prefer if you had to buy one? Even though this one has the streaming Netflix, the patriot one is still looking pretty good especially for the price...

Re: Patriot Box Office HD Media Player Review

I agree 100% that they would be great for kids TVs (as long as the kids don't fubar the remote). I myself have been using RCA DVD/Divx players on my kids' TVs and those work fairly well for Xvid files (sometimes had to reencode with AutoGK) but this box would probably trump that hands down due to th...

Re: Patriot Box Office HD Media Player Review

I was jonesing for one of these for awhile but ultimately was discouraged by the idea of having to wait for firmware revisions, also scared off by the lack of operating controls on the box itself ie: if the remote dies then you have a brick. Much cheaper than an HTPC, but then again my HTPC will pla...

Re: Biostar TA890GXB HD Micro-ATX Motherboard Review

I like the placement of the SATA ports on this one, some mobo makers aren't thinking and put them in line with the PCI-e 16x slot so you lose one or two with an oversize card. Looks like it would be a decent HTPC mobo.

Re: What Spider Did I Just Kill - has orange on the belly??

Nate I've had those spiders in my home every year since we built in '98. The first few years they were everywhere, I'd be sitting in the living room watching TV and see one or two walking across the carpet nonchalantly. My cat even lost interest in them because he got used to them. At first I didn't...

Re: EVGA GTX 400 Series High-Flow Exhaust Bracket Review

Actually, I have to ask. Were you using the Extreme Burning Mode? In all honesty I wanted to make it the worst case scenario and if it would reduce the top end temperature at all. Many ways to test it, but at the end of the day it took more than a full 8 hour work day just to run these tests in the...

Re: EVGA GTX 400 Series High-Flow Exhaust Bracket Review

One degree drop isn't worth purchasers' buying it separately (even just for S&H), but it is worth the manufacturers' adopting the design for future use since they can do so for no extra charge. A win-win for both parties.
