Re: ASRock Fatal1ty P67 Professional Motherboard Review

I read somewhere that the Floppy and IDE headers were put on there because of a request by Mr. Fatality Wendell.

Re: i7 980x Extreme Edition, help with identification

It should say right on the top of the cpu what it is.

Like this.

And yeah you probably just got scammed by that little **** and he just sent back the CPU cooler with an old cpu. Never refund imo.

Re: Better Case, or Better HSF?

Newegg has an Antec 300 Illusion which comes with 2 extra front fans over the regular case for $55. Tiger Direct has the HAF 912 for $49, but that has less fans and is an inch over your depth requirement. Tiger Direct also has the Corsair A50 air cooler for $25, which I just bought myself and does r...

Re: How cheap is too cheap? Gigabyte Z68 for $130

http://www.lucidlogix.com/product-virtu.html Virtu is a software setup that allows the use of integrated and discrete graphics. So if I am just web browsing then its using the HD3000, but if I load up a game it fires up my graphics card to run that. That should give decent power savings by not using...

Re: ASUS Official Z68 Poll

An Asus poll on a site I commonly visit about Z68 and I didn't notice it until after I bought an Asus Z68 motherboard. Wow. I was going to wait until Bulldozer, because I have built AMD systems 3 times now and wanted to see what they will offer. Except AMD seemed to have some issue with the FX chips...

Re: How cheap is too cheap? Gigabyte Z68 for $130

You obviously don't play World of Warcraft. I have spent countless hours in WoW while watching video as well. I do it with some other games too, like Mass Effect 2 when I need to go mine.

Re: How cheap is too cheap? Gigabyte Z68 for $130

I really want to play around with Virtu though so thats mainly why I went with the Z68. I have a dual monitor setup and I do a lot of multitasking with video, gaming, and 3D modeling programs so I have this dream where the integrated GPU is taking care of all the video processing on my right monitor...

Re: AMD FX 8-Core versus Intel Sandy Bridge

Thats not the right video. That one shows the Llano quad core APU vs a sandybridge mobile chip, showing off how much better the gpu is and how that affects system smoothness and power use. Which is quite awesome, but not an FX 8-core.

Re: How cheap is too cheap? Gigabyte Z68 for $130

I couldn't do it. I wanted to save the money but I kept looking at the Gigabyte site and looking at the feature lists and got paranoid over it. Like it doesn't say its ultra durable 3 like the other boards do. Stupid **** like that. So I ended up buying an Asus board again, their entry level Z68 ATX...

I just took the plunge and ordered a 2600k myself. Stopped waiting for AMD to release Bulldozer. I am hoping to hit 5ghz just to see it, then drop it back down a bit.

Re: Microsft In Talks To Buy nVidia?

I think most of this is just the IW author trying to make it seem like MS would try and buy nVidia based on a decade old deal and drum up page views. There is nothing in the piece beyond the author's opinion to show MS is going to buy nVidia. From what I read MS when they originally got with nVidia ...

Re: i7 2nd gen, High speed or Multi-core, which to prefer?

The core i5 chip is a dual core cpu, while the core i7 chip is a quad core cpu. The i7 chip should use the turbo boost feature to clock itself at 2.9ghz when only using 2 cores making it the same top frequency the core i5 can do. But the Core i7 has 2 more cores so if you use heavily threaded applic...

How cheap is too cheap? Gigabyte Z68 for $130

I am looking to upgrade to a Core i7 2600 with a Z68 mobo and I came across this board on Newegg, GIGABYTE GA-Z68A-D3H-B3, it has Virtu, it has SLI. It seems to have everything and a decent brand name, yet only costs $130. Is this board just a great deal or am I missing something? http://www.newegg....

Re: MSI 990FXA-GD80 Motherboard Review - AMD 990FX Chipset

I am scratching my head at AMD putting the 990 boards on the market without the CPUs. From what I have been reading all day supposedly the first couple Zambezi steppings have had performance issues and they are getting delayed. One site I saw thinks they will launch in July, but not be widely availa...

Re: What Web Browser is Fastest for Windows in 2011?

I keep trying other browsers but I always go back to using Chrome. I think the design layout is quicker for me to use, and the features it has speeds up my browsing too. Like Paste and Go or Paste and Search. Cutting out keystrokes and clicks.

I wonder if Intel will crush ARM next year with this in Cell Phones and Tablets and possibly keep AMD in roughly the position they are now.

I wonder why they did a 100mhz bump for Deneb in may; when I thought they were releasing the new bulldozer based FX chips in June. Not sure why anyone would buy it instead of waiting the 5-8 weeks.
