Re: s-video help
Older TVs are generally in the area of 640x480 resolution, so the image quality is a limitation of the TV, not of the connection type; not much that can be done about it.

The iaudio line might be worth looking at too. I don't have any personal experience with their HDD players, but have had great luck with the D2 and Iaudio7.

Re: DX10 on XP
Not going to happen.
Honestly, I think Vista is a much better operating system than XP, but DX10 is one of the less compelling reasons to go with Vista, there are no DX10 exclusive games, and relatively little visual difference in DX9 and DX10.

Re: Just how stripped down and set for speed can you get XP?
If a machine has lots of RAM and processing cores, then stripping down XP won't make anywhere near as much difference (maybe even no difference) as it would if the machine is slow and has limited RAM. Bingo. If you check total CPU time for Windows services, it's quite low, even not taking into acco...

Re: HOW MUCH IS GAS WHERE YOU ARE AND WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT?
Gas is around $3.80 USD/gallon or $1.30 CAD/L here. It's been significantly more expensive is USD/gallon (>$6 gallon, IIRC) in the past, when the USD was worth more, but this is pretty much the highest it's ever been in the actual CAD/L that we use. I don't spend much on gas, I drive a bike, which i...

Re: Can you in Vista 64 or XP64?
You could copy it to a ramdrive... google "ramdrive" for explanations.
To be honest though, you're not going to see much, if any, difference in performance in games using a ramdrive in most gaming situations.

Re: 32 or 64bit OS for Intel dual core CPU?
I am confused whether I need a 64bit OS for Intel dual core processor, which is a 64bit CPU I assume, or not. I know I want XP and not Vista, please advise which is better for gaming and general usage: XP Pro or XP Pro x64. i'd stay away from 64-bit XP Pro. a lot of discontent with that OS due to p...

My motherboard from 2005 supports new GPUs. My motheboard from 2005 does not support quad cores CPUs.
Easy answer for me.

8 hours (overnight) while testing overclocks, minimum 24 hours when I think I've settled on a clock for 24/7 use. I generally reboot my PC monthly, so it needs to be damn stable for that entire time, regardless of what I'm doing with it. No screenies, but I've forgotten about prime running in the pa...

Re: GeForce 9800 GTX Reader Poll
This is just a product refresh, similar to the 8800 GTS G80 -> 8800 GTS G92.
It' not intended as an upgrade for anyone who already has a high end 8800 series card.

Re: Minimum Assassin's Creed Specs Surpass Crysis
One of my favorites, Mass Effect, isn't even available on the PC. It will be. :) The minimum requirements for Assassin's Creed aren't that bad, any good computer from the last couple years should be able to meet them. The issue comes when "minimum" looks like crap, and nobody is able to r...

I haven't yet been able to justify the cost of a real nice watch for myself, this is the one I generally wear:

Re: cpu requirment for and 8800gt?
Sitting around!?!?! I wish I had spare cards like that :P Dan Hahah, ironically, I don't even need close to this much power. I was doing fine with my 7900GT, but it got to the point where it was artifacting severely even on the desktop. So I bought an 8800 GTS to replace it, and rma'd the card to B...
