Re: AM3/AM3+ mATX w/ SATAIII
Yeah, it would be basically a downgrade...from an 890GX board to low-end 880G or 760G. You could get a self-contained 120mm water-cooler (i.e. Corsair H50 / H60, etc), but since you don't have a lot of places to mount fans, probably better to have it exhausting air out the rear of the case. The radi...

Re: AM3/AM3+ mATX w/ SATAIII
No idea why they are using an older 760G chipset. The main concern I was worried about was the lack of support for higher TDP CPUs. Many of them say it supports 125 W chips...but with a 4-pin CPU power connector and 3+1 power phase, I don't feel safe. 95W is fine but 125W and 140W...ehhhh. There isn...

Re: AM3/AM3+ mATX w/ SATAIII
Eh quite a few mATX AM3 / AM3+ boards, but most of them (like 90%+) uses the older 760G chipset... It won't be easy finding a board with SATA 6Gb/s ports... Using this AMD motherboard database as some sort of reference, I'd probably go for these: http://www.overclock.net/t/946407/amd-motherboards-vr...

Re: i5-3450 3.1GHz @ 3.9GHz
You cannot expect to tweak the multipliers or the bclk on a B75 chipset. The i5 3450 has a multiplier limit of 39 for a max OC of 3.9ghz. You can only access the multiplier or bclk if you have a z75 or z75 chip set. Did you try downloading from Intel the Intel(R) Turbo Boost Technology Monitor? I w...

Re: ASRock can kiss MY asrock
I've used 1 or 2 AsRock motherboards in a couple of my friends' systems; never had any serious problems with them. Unfortunate to see what you are experiencing. Anyways, have you got word from AsRock yet, after Nate's e-mail to AsRock?? I have to agree though - a litle disappointed with AsRock about...

Re: ASUS TF300T 32GB Tablet
Hmm... I see. I'll look into the Nexus tablets. Thanks you two. As for the size, it isn't a real concern; 10.1" or 7" is fine. The reason I chose to go with Andriod was due to it being more flexible than the iOS alternative. Of course, and the price. We are beginning to work with some ARM ...

ASUS TF300T 32GB Tablet
Before I start, MERRY CHRISTMAS / HAPPY HOLIDAYS! :partyman: Ive been thinking about grabbing an Android tablet, the ASUS TF300T in particular, and I'm curious if the LR community has any feedbacks that they would like to share. What I like about it is the not-too-large size and the ability the incr...

Re: $300 range
The "Red" alternative would be the HD 7950. There a couple of them for $299.99 on NewEgg (excluding any applicable shipping, rebate, taxes) but goes up to $330. They also come with AMD's 3 free game package. There is a Sapphire 7950 for $279.99 after $20 MIR with free shipping. http://www....

Re: DIY All-in-One
Have you considered building a mini ITX system...say inside a BitFenix Prodigy case?
You can pack a beast into these tiny cases, yet, they are stylish and take up very little space.

Re: GIGABYTE GA-A75-D3H FM1 Motherboard Review
Nice review!! I've owned the GA-A75-D3H or about 1/2 year, and I have nothing but good about it. The only minor problem I had was temperature monitoring. - idle temps showing as 0*C or lower than ambient - Random sensor showing 90+*C somewhere Load temperature seems to show up okay, though... Since ...

Yeah I've been reading that it's some thick stuff. People say to dip it in some warm / hot water before using so it flows easier.

Antec Formula 7 TIM
The recent review with the Prolimatech theram paste (also involved the Antec Formula 7) got me thinking. I've seen the F7 around in-stores and online, read some nice feedback about it on NewEgg. I'm thinking of getting a tube of this stuff to try out. I've been using Arctic Silver 5 for a few years ...

Re: 10 core AMD (?Phenom II)
As Major has already stated, the Phenom II product has reached it's end of life, and is almost completely phased out by the new chips. Beside, do you really need 10 cores? For what? Day-to-day computing won't use even 6 or 8-cores - let alone 10. If you are thinking about doing something else (serve...

Re: AM3+ CPU in an AM3 socket?
The extra pin found on AM3+ is located where is it "plugged up" in the AM3 socket. Wouldn't you be bending / breaking off the extra pin?
That's what messing with me right now; AM3+ has a pin where the AM3 socket does not have a hole for...
