Widescreen on ATI Rage

Is there widescreen support on ATI Rage cards?

My friend got a new monitor, but he cannot select 1440x900 res. He has latest video, and monitor drivers installed. Using VGA output of course.

You can call the manufacturer to see if they can send you a replacement fan.

I think you can check Northbridge temperatures with SpeedFan. Usually the fan is just noisy, but still cools OK.

You can also get a passive Northbridge cooler if you don't want any noise. They are about $10.

Linux on a Laptop

I'm just wondering if any manufacturers write Linux drivers? I know there are plenty of third party drivers. I could use a basic laptop for schoolwork.

I got a 19 inch widescreen, but afterwards I got a new card too.

I think the monitor was the better purchase. It is so much easier on my eyes. Running at 1024 x 786 x 60 Hertz was a pain.

I personally think it is worth paying a little extra for the X1950Pro if you run games. Especially if you plan to run Flight Simulator X.

A good question is: do you need it? I would stick with the FX-55 and save until a bigger upgrade. That's just me personally. I'm not a big fan of small "stepping-stone" upgrades.

White Substance Inside PSU

What is it? It was in my PSU, and I thought something was wrong, then I did a google search, and it looks like it is supposed to be there. http://www.extensiontech.net/reviews/tv/vantec/ion/img/10.jpg Also, what is PWM temperature? Is that the power supply temperature? http://i5.photobucket.com/albu...

first I guess I should wait until someone tells me what this computers problem with actually setting the voltage is? since its not registering 1.375 volts like it should only 1.34 or something. It could be the power supply not being able to provide sufficient voltage to the CPU. I have a cheap gene...

I checked my 3800+ X2 temperatures today. Stock I get 33/44 idle/load. Overclocked to 2.4 I get 33/46. Ambient temp is around 20. Running on stock cooling. I'm thinking about getting Arctic Silver as a cheap way to lower temperatures. I'm not really up for buying a new HSF.

Installing a CPU is pretty easy. They do come with instructions. I had a Celeron once, and I'm never touching another one with a 10 foot pole. Pentium, and Pentium D are better, especially for gaming. AMD has videos that show you how to uninstall, and install a processor. You can look at those to ge...
