Re: AMD Radeon HD 6950 & 6970 CrossFire Video Card Reviews
I, for one, am very pleased that this card keeps pace with the GTX 580 and more importantly kicks the snot out of the GTX 570 as it is priced just over the cost of a 570. So what that it isn't the 580-killer! So what that it's not a night-and-day curbstomp over Nvidia! I am pleased that AMD is keepi...

Re: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 GF110 Fermi Video Card Review
I've put off replacing my 8800GTS 512 for quite a while now (killed my 9800GX2) and this *may* be what I pick up. I'm going to wait for AMD's next GPU release to make my final decision, but I'm definitely not wasting my money on a mid-range card again - I want something that's going to be beefy for ...

The naming scheme is terrible! I just hope that my PSU will be enough for whatever the top non dual-gpu card is named.

Re: Watercooling question
Yeah, no issues at all until the day I switch out the mobo. Upon closer inspection, I realized that the tube wasn't cut very clean to begin with. It was kind of jagged and not a flush, smooth cut so it may have been "off" even when I set it up originally. I decided to just drain the loop. ...

Watercooling question
Well, my WC loop has been running strong for quite some time now, but my motherboard's RAM slots went bad. In the process of replacing the defective motherboard, I pulled out (very carefully) the old board, connected everything up to the new one, and put it back into the case. Mid-way through testin...

Re: Limitless Renewable Energy Exists Under Our Feet
I'd think that companies who would make the switch to these kinds of alternate-energy solutions would want to make sure their price points were noticeably lower than their competitors, just to demonstrate that energy saving technology adopting can be profitable even in the short term. As for the who...

Re: Calling all/any Mac experts!
Well the real issue here is a lack of funds to sate the Apple Store demigods. I'll likely be heading over to the store next week when I have some spare cash. Figure after all the headaches, I'm likely going to use the machine for a week or two then sell it for a down payment on a car

Re: Calling all/any Mac experts!
Well, I'm going into the Apple Store tomorrow. I've DBAN-ed the hdd, taken the MBP fully apart, ran a hard drive test, then put it in a SATA enclosure and formatted it correctly via my buddy's new i7 MBP. Still won't install. "Cannot install OSX on this system" or something to that effect....

Re: Calling all/any Mac experts!
I've tried holding down "c" while booting up with the OSX disk in the superdrive with no success. I get a message about kernel panic and how it can't continue. I reaaally don't want to waste money going into the Apple store! [-o< There's gotta be a way to get a successful install at home, ...

Calling all/any Mac experts!
My buddy just bought a brand new Core i7 Macbook Pro, and as I've been his "computer guy" for a while I bought his older MBP 4.1 (Penryn) for a very reasonable price! Me being me, I decided I'd wipe his hard drive clean and install Ubuntu 10.04. I've played around with Ubuntu for a while n...

I would love to find out more about this! Maybe one day we'll see watercooling as a truly mainstream way of cooling our CPUs!

Re: Old School LR
If you are familiar with the Ultimate Bood CD , I would suggest running the manufacturers drive test off of it, as auto shutoffs can happen if a hard drive is failing. If you have a power supply tester, you should use it to find out if it might be starting to fail. Also, blow it out if it needs dust...
