PSU for 9800GTX SLI

I've been tossing around the idea of SLI-ing a couple of 9800GTX cards. Does anyone know if I'd be pushing my luck to use this card? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153039 It has been great for the rig I have described in my signature, but do you think it would be enough for...

Ruby's new partner fidgeted anxiously in his seat, waiting for his new mentor to arrive. He had waited a very long time to finally meet the legendary warrior. Many dream-filled nights had been spent within a dojo in the mountains, crossing Hanzos with the leather-clad beauty. Or in the field on dang...

Re: ...and yet another one

I've experienced something similar to what you're going through, but mine was with an HP Compaq desktop. For some reason, the LAN driver would not install from the CD automatically. I had to open the device manager and update the driver manually. I also couldn't just let Windows try and find it, I h...

Re: CPU Compatibility

It looks fine to me. There is at least one CPU on Gigabyte's list that is 3.0Ghz, so I don't think you should have any problems.

Re: slower PCIE bus

It will be a very small increase, if any, by switching to a board with a 16x bus speed. Crysis is just too demanding. In my opinion, I think Crytek dropped the ball on it's optimization. When three GTX 280 cards cannot get above 60 FPS @ 1280x1024, even with all the settings to 'Very High,' we shoul...

Re: Why you should never help organise a lan.

I too have been burned by the promise of an 'awesome' lan party. I was promised the entire event would consist of nothing but BF2 and HL2:DM. Games that, at the time, would give my machine a workout and create the fast paced fun that make lan parties worthwhile. I tentatively agreed. BF2 was played ...

If games are the intended focus, doesn't the E8400 outperform the Q6600?

Do you have the latest driver for your video card? Have you installed all of the available Vista updates. I noticed a significant improvement in frame rates when I updated Vista with all the latest fixes.

Trials such as this really make you remember what is truly in important in life, don't they? I'm very sorry for everything you and your family are going through, but if you hold tight to one another everything will turn out okay. My prayers are with you and your loved ones.

Here is an option for you. I've had nothing but good experience with NVIDIA's chipsets. The only thing I'm not 100% sure about is the support for the E8400 since it is one of the newer 45nm chips. I don't know if it supports it right out of the box, but it will for sure with a bios update. It also h...

Re: Im Stuck Between Two Video Cards.Which One Should I Get?

I've read reviews on the Palit 1Gb 8800GTS, and it doesn't seem as if there is any real benefit to having the 1Gb of memory as opposed to the stock 512Mb. And since you're considering the 9800GTX, I'm going to assume it is within your accepted price range. I say go with the 9800GTX and enjoy a longe...

Re: Random Freeze ups

I'm not 100% educated on the specifics of how power supplies work, but I've been reading up on them recently. An important part of what makes a power supply reliable is often overlooked; the number and quality of their 12V rails. You'll notice that higher quality, more expensive power supplies often...

Re: Computer freezing on boot (pic inside)

In your BIOS there is an option to select which boot device is accessed. I've seen some BIOS' that don't have the hard drive selected as default. Set your hard drive with windows installed as your first boot device.

XFX is a great brand, that is the brand I'm currently using. I've also used BFG in the past, also great. When I buy new video cards for myself or others I'll usually only buy between BFG, XFX, and EVGA, whichever is offering the best deal.

I love hoping for Intel to get kicked in the nuts. AMD fanboy alert! Embrace the 'dark' side and get an Intel, my friend. Upgrade to even a mid-range Core 2 Duo and you'll never look back. I'm really excited for these Atom chips. They'll hopefully give the MSI Wind a nice little turbocha...

Re: X1900GT and ViewSonic va1926w

This is a really no-brainer, but it happened to me once so I'll throw it out there. My first LCD monitor had a button that would toggle between the DVI and VGA inputs, it wouldn't automatically switch. I floundered and flustered for an hour before I realized this and hit the button to switch the fee...

Re: I run on a UPS. Do you?

I suspect the answer to my question is 'Yes,' but does one have to run a UPS with equal-to or more wattage than the equipment you're running? If I have a 700W internal power supply and my monitor uses 120W, does my UPS have to be at least 820W to run them? :-k

Re: Ack what did I do?

How long have you been using your current install of Vista? Is there a possibility that some motherboard drivers may not have been installed? Either way, I'd suggest downloading the newest drivers for your motherboard, and also updating the bios.
