Re: Western Digital WD TV Live – Next Generation Streaming M

Here's the multichannel FLAC file, I'm sure you'll recognize the song. I'll PM you the password. http://www.multiupload.com/ZMN8I4QACC There's a tag in the file (seen below) which specifies which channels are present (in this case 5.1). Can you try to see if plays correctly with and without the tag ...

Re: Western Digital WD TV Live – Next Generation Streaming M

You can use Windows Media Player to stream...just turn on "Media Streaming". If you aren't running W7 or just don't like WMP, you can use a bunch of different programs (our favorite is PS3 Media Server) to setup a DLNA compliant UPnP server. I didn't try multichannel FLAC/WAV because I do...

Re: Western Digital WD TV Live – Next Generation Streaming M

I think I might swap out my HTPC as well. Too bad they can't include an RDP/VNC client on these to connect to a PC if desired; that would be sweet! Btw, I'm seriously considering getting this. What software (DLNA, uPnP, etc.), if any, do I need on my Win 7 "server" to get the WD TV Live to...

Re: IDF 2011: GIGABYTE Intel X79 Motherboard Preview

On the GA-X79-UD7, what are those two connectors near the SATA ports!?! (One is between the ATX power and nearest 90* SATA ports and the other is near the bottom of the board. It is a SATA power plug to deliver power to the PCIe x16 slots Interesting. It looked like SATA but it was too wide for the...

No USB 3.0? Blah! At least there's eSATA and nice to see IEEE1394b as well.

Re: MSI Claims That Gigabyte Fakes PCIe 3.0 Gen 3?

Sweet, right on MSI. It's nice to see companies do this to keep each other in check. If only they did this for pricing too (e.g., the multiple price fixing debacles with respect to flat panel TVs and Monitors)! Adding new features helps push/enable innovation, so if Intel makes it available someone ...

Re: Add2PSU Daisy Chain Power Supply Adapter Review

I had one up until a year or so ago when mine burned out, the power adapter (the one that goes to the wall) is still good though. I've been meaning to get a replacement for my ssh gateway and web server running on an mini-ITX PC, but wasn't wanting to spend the money if I could get by otherwise.

Re: Add2PSU Daisy Chain Power Supply Adapter Review

It would be great to combine two of these from http://www.mini-box.com for example: http://www.mini-box.com/core/media/media.nl?id=18618&c=ACCT127230&h=afe78650d593d1e230ed for a very low thermal and no-noise HTPC/medium-gaming environment, one for CPU/Motherboard and another for the graphic...

This sounds so lame. What would an RTS monitor or RTS mode on this monitor offer over any other? Sounds like snake oil.

I like the idea knowing that natural disasters are now covered by Seagate's warranty (i.e., bundled data recovery). Definitely something I'd consider when buying my next mobile data device.

Interesting that this doesn't need a dual-link DVI port or the usb-to-IR emitter cables. I imagine this selling a lot better due to universal hdmi 1.4 (3D) support.

Thanks for the review, though it would have been nice to see a top-performing heatsink on the charts for comparison.
