Heatsink that is cool to the touch sounds scary, does it have proper contact with the APU? Did you check what temps BIOS shows?

Re: Anybody With Good Razer Experience(s)?

My recent experience with mice and keyboards shows that you just don't get what you pay for nowadays, quality and reliability wise. So now I just look at particular features I need and buy the cheapest one and in the long run am sure to save money.

Re: Looking for suggestions

Yeah, unless you want to look elsewhere for 95W x6, not much CPU upgrade options with this motherboard. Plus, if you upgrade your motherboard, you could get features like USB3 and SATA6 which would further enhance transfer speeds. That SSD, for example, needs SATA6 to reach top speeds. 120GB should ...

Sort of shows you why manufacturers often choose not to leave any components on the back of the PCB.

Re: Looking for suggestions

Ideally, of course, you would put all your files on SSD. But it is enough to put OS and program installations on SSD to greatly cut down on waiting times while doing routine operations on your PC and make it much more enjoyable.

Re: Looking for suggestions

There still seems to be some life in your machine. I'd keep the board, drop in 1055T, new video card, SSD and you will experience quite a performance bump.

Re: Would the following setup work?

They should work, but you would have to make both sets slower, loosening timings on Corsair and dropping frequency on Kingston. If memory speed is not a big concern, and you are looking more for size, it would work for you. What's your motherboard?

It really seems to be more of a question if you really need a 3960X; if you do, choosing this board is pretty much a no-brainer.

Re: Nvidia 8600 GT problems

Is one of the motherboard sensors really showing 70 degrees temperature? If you are running latest games that might be a bit too much strain for these components. Try logging all available temperatures while playing to see if any are too high.
