But Apop, how does a AM3+ / AM3b CPU work on a AM3 socket motherboard? (Crosshair IV Formula 890FX AM3).
I don't belive ASUS made any revisions to the board - I'm pretty sure they ditched it and moved onto the Crosshair V .

AM3+ CPU in an AM3 socket?
I was just browsing around on ASUS's site during my free time earlier today, and I decided to see if they got any new BIOS' for my Crosshair IV Formula (been ages since I last checked). Then under the BIOS tab: - version 3027 - Beta BIOS - 2011/11/18 - Support for New CPUs I click on the CPU Support...

" It's 15mm in height and is not designed to be removed from it's base so don't get any ideas of yanking it out to drop in your notebook PC. We know how you think! " ...Damn! Performance-wise, I have to say, that's quite good for a mechanical drive; it performs just under the hybrid...

Re: APU Temperature Monitoring & OC'ing tips
I let the system idle in BIOS for about 15 minutes. The room temperature is about 18/19*C (thermometer in the room) In the BIOS, it states the CPU temperature is 21/22*C, system temperature is 24*C. What I said about the heatsink...it isn't freezing cold. With the way the aluminum fins array is desi...

Re: APU Temperature Monitoring & OC'ing tips
Thanks Major. CnQ, C6, C-state, Pmin...are all turned off/disabled. The CPU is currently running at full speed. Sorry, the 3D Mark11 link goes to the stock speeds, not the overclocked - my bad. Here's the score for the 3GHz CPU and 480MHz for the "GPU." http://3dmark.com/3dm11/3026128;jses...

APU Temperature Monitoring & OC'ing tips
So I finally got my new APU system "running" and I have some questions. 1. What is a good "working" temperature monitoring program for the APUs? I'm currently "using" CoreTemp and HWMonitor. CoreTemp shows ridiculously off temperatures, so it's not very helpful. I mean,...

Re: Gigabyte GA-A57-D3H or Gigabyte GA-A57-UD4H??
I guess I'll be sticking with the GA-A75-D3H then. There will be overclocking, but not going all out with it. Heh, I won't be using ALL the features, so I guess there isn't much of a reason going for the UD4H. The 8X slot over the 4X don't make much difference for me as well. The major thing that ma...

Gigabyte GA-A57-D3H or Gigabyte GA-A57-UD4H??
So for my APU build, I'm still undecided for the motherboard (other parts are slowly being shipped in already). At first I was determined to get the D3H, but the UD4H is only a little bit more. The UD4H has more features ( on the rear I/O, etc). The D3H uses a 4+1 power phase with no heatsink on the...

Re: Radeon HD 5500 low frames after driver update
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention: REPLACE THAT $10-$20 cheap, very poor quality power supply, and get something else! Logisys, Sunbeam, CoolMax, Raidmax, HEC, Apevia (and many many more) should be AVOIDED!! I'm looking at this Logisys 550W here. $18.99. 25A MAXIMUM output from the +12v. 25A X 12V = 300W...

Re: Is My Computer running to hot?
It would be better than what you have now, but it's out of stock. You're right PCI cards are few and far between and are usually pretty expensive. I was thinking your computer had an AGP port, which they don't make at all. *EDIT* I just saw that Newegg does sell AGP cards. I went to look up your bo...

It would be more helpful for us and you if you provide us with more detail of your system. Please fill these in: - Processor/CPU? [example intel core 2 duo e5500] - Motherboard model & make? [Gigabyte 990FX-UD3] - Amount of RAM, number of sticks [2 x 2GB DDR2] - Video card. You've already given ...

Re: Is My Computer running to hot?
Hi johnny & Welcome to Legit Reviews! There could be several causes for your computer (processor/CPU?) to run hot. For most situations, dust is the cause. When was the last time you opened up the case (and take all the parts out too?) and clean them from dust build-up? Did you remove all the dus...

Re: Would like to upgrade CPU what is the best one?
Thanks for that, I have a few issues though that I could do with some help on. I currently have a Alienware Chassis, and i have a liquid cooled CPU, could I use the liquid cooling system on newer motherboard and CPU? In your opinion what would be a mid range upgrade board and CPU to get? Are the so...

Are you going to leave it with the metallic silver colour? If you do, that you be pretty nice (I like it a lot). Really stands out from all the black cases you see these days.

Re: Replacement processor fan
Mmm...I would also recommend that you just replace the cooler as a whole than to buy an replacement fan. You can find much better coolers for around $20-$30. As Sttm said, the Corsair A50 is a very good tower cooler - NewEgg currently has it for only $16.99 (after reabte) with free shipping. I'd say...

Re: Proposed X-mas Holiday E-350 HTPC or FM1-based system
Alrighty! Thanks for everyone's opinions, and the FM1-based build seems to be suggested by many. I liked the E-350 because of it's size...but it may struggle with some 1080p content. Oh yeah, what chipset would you guys suggest for the FM1 system? A55 or A75? I was thinking of getting either an A6-3...
