Re: which processor is better
While the stock performance of the two chips is close. There are other factors to consider. 1. The chipset of the motherboard you intend to use. 2. What do you want to do with your setup: like do you intend to overclock at all? Will it be used mostly for gaming? Or used for other applications, like ...

Re: Intel DX58SO Motherboard Gets Active Chipset Cooling
Intel never did care about the placement of connectors. Another sign of this "attitude" is that they knew this board would use "3 channel" memory, but they still put 4 memory slots on the board.martini161 wrote:wow that seems like a pretty bad placement of the 8 pin cpu power connector

Re: OCZ Announced New SSD - Core Series V2 SATA II
cannyone, if your data is that important to you and you want raid 0 why not run raid 5? RAID5 doesn't perform as well as RAID0. And with RAID5 you still need a "spare drive", so it can rebuild the array when a drive fails. So the point is that if the drives are really reliable then you do...

Re: OCZ Announced New SSD - Core Series V2 SATA II
Ok! If there is any question as to their "reliability" then I'm not interested. BTW I'm so paranoid of loosing data, like my 27GB collection of MP3s, I back all my files up - multiple times - on different external drives. Still the cost of SSD is going to be high enough that if there isn't...

Re: Lian Li launches PC-XB01 - Xbox 360 Chassis replacement
I got my Xbox 360 Elite last October. So it's very likely that it has the "older", hotter running, CPU - as well as the hot running GPU. In order to "protect my investment" I felt it was necessary to use a Nyko Intercooler fan, which snaps on the back of the 360. Later I discover...

Re: OCZ Announced New SSD - Core Series V2 SATA II
Just two questions: 1. How much do they cost? 2. Will they work in a RAID0 array? See I gave up on RAID0 years ago. After having consecutive sets of HDDs go out on me. (My #1 pet peeve with computers is "data loss"!) These drives, now that they have better capacity, should be less prone to...

Re: NVIDIA Releases The GeForce Power Pack For Download
Just one factor that I might add, and I don't know yet just how much of a problem it is... I installed these drivers, even though I have SLI and they aren't optimized for SLI. Now when I go into the Nvidia Control Panel and try to "Manage 3D Settings" - all it can "find" for Inst...

Re: Asus M3A78-T Motherboard Review
I'm just glad to finally see an AMD chipset with an improved south-bridge. The SB600 was really never that good. It's just too bad that AMD isn't doing like Nvidia in one respect. I'd like to see that IGP be used as a physics processor with either one, or two, 4800 series cards in place. As it stand...

Re: Part 2: Which motherboard company is more efficient
I have a slightly different "take" on this topic. Intel has been pushing it's partners to be more "energy efficient", which obstensively is a good thing. But last year I bought an Asus P5E (plain jane X38 chipset board) when another Asus board (a P5B-Plus) encountered a problem w...

Re: Lian-Li launches the all new Tyr X500 HTPC/Gaming Chassis
I've had a few Lian-Li cases in the past and their build quality is superb. I also feel that they put more time into designs, especially for quiet applications, than most of their competitors. So the first time I saw a shot of this case I was interested. It's going to be a major temptation to upgrad...

Re: ATI Radeon HD 3870 + 3850 CrossFire - Mixing Video Cards
Very Interesting article! I've personally begun to be very interested in this Visiontek HD3850 . Since it has a dual-slot cooler my guess would be that it's more overclockable, and it has 512MB instead of 256MB for memory. At that price I might be able to "beg, borrow, and/or steal" enough...

Um does this mean that we are going to have to deal with "reboots" of a healthcare's systems even occasionally? ... I just hope Hillary doesn't get elected!! This sounds like something she'd buy into... for the entire US. :( I can hear it now: "I'm sorry Sir, I can't help you because ...

Re: WARF is suing Intel
Well who knows what's going to happen now. I'm not exactly surprised, but with a company as large as Intel it is hard to see WARF making any major victory even if they are right. This lawsuit has really interesting implications for AMD as well. Agreed! This case does present some interesting implic...

Re: New Mp3/video player?
I have a Zen. And since I was very concerned about music quality, I investigated this aspect of many different players with great care. The one that sounded best to me was the Zen. And combined with a set of Sennheiser headphones (I settled for the PMX-60s - hey! I wanted a bit more bass than "...

Re: Noctua NH-U12P CPU Cooler - The Sound of Silence
Excellent review Shane! I especially appreciated the following: Most are thinking, “$70 is half way to a water cooling system - just go water.” Well, I have thought about going water, that’s a big step, both in cooling and budget. Most won’t go to water as it is can be overkill for those not pushing...

Actually that's not true! But Vista, including the x64 version, still sucks! At least in my, not so Humble, opinion.capper wrote:...No antivirus applications support & you'll also not find drivers for most of your devices.

Re: XP or Vista?
Because really basic OS features like disk to disk transfers (presuming you have 2 hard drives) is ridiculously slow! It's better in SP1, I'm getting speeds over 100 MB/s from one of my RAID 0 arrays to the other. And Vista has better support for multiple cores and large amounts of memory, running ...
