My best guess would be a 7600GS for around ~$150 (they have 12 pipelines), or better yet a 7800GS for about ~$250 (they have 16 pipelines). But IMHO you might actually be better off getting a motherboard that can use all your other equipment and going with PCI-E. The cards are invariably cheaper and...

As much fun as any one of us could have with giving you a lot of grief about your problem, it does sound like you do have a real problem on your hands and that nobody has or will do anything about it. I would write a letter to your local government and express to them your situation and provide the...

Ok there is one fact that I did not discuss yet. The majority of these cats are completely feral (as in wild, no owner, types) that feed out of the dumpster, which is just across the parking lot. In the past I've even called the SPCA because they would have fights in the middle of the night right ou...

Am I an EVIL person?

Early this year a water pipe broke outside my apartment. This resulted in some of the concrete being broken up, so they could dig a hole and fix the pipes. But they didn't replace the concrete. Recently they put some sand, then put some loose dirt on top of that. Now every cat in the neighborhood is...

Interesting "Tool" from a site I'd not heard of pr

Well I've been going through some issues with my power supplys. And I discovered this Power Supply Calculator . It seems like a fairly useful means of figuring out what range of p/s one might choose. So I thought I might give it some exposure. :) I have no afiliation with extreme outervision, hadn't...

I may not sleep tonight...

I ordered some new video cards a while back. An X1900XTX and an X1900XT/256. (yeah unfortunately I have two "cases" to feed... They are almost "twins" - but I'm using a Koolance Exos for one and the other is Zalman aircooled - They also have different CPUs and displays) The probl...

Well as I see it, a huge part of the equation is "how much will the R600 cost?" If they price it at $600+ then it's very likely I won't have much choice. I can't afford that, let alone that AND a new power supply! Truthfully, I'm not certain that DX10 will be "all that" fr...

I like those Cooler Master cases. I was rebuilding a system for a friend and wanted him to get one of those to replace the old Antec.

BTW the rest of his computer is no where near as nice as yours. :)

yada, yada, ... yada! Of course they want to say they're the best. But what matters to me is that "when" I load Vista and try loading their drivers my LCD goes blank and I can't really do anything about it, except start over. So this is what I think of your "Most Stable Vista ...

Hi guys and gals!

I'm new herebouts. I've visited from time to time in the past, but recently the Editor did a piece on comparing ATI and Nvidia performance with Vista RC1. To make a long story short he reported the same issue I was having with ATI. Since I've had the same issue with every attempt since beta 2, and n...

Well, with the way the prices have dropped, I decided to upgrade my X1800XTs. For my primary rig I decided to splurge and get a Sapphire X1900XTX, which after rebates is going for $315 with shipping included. For my secondary system I'm getting one of these, for a combined price of $245. 8) I also h...

Ok I have 2 Sapphire X1800XTs - and one machine has a Viewsonic VX2025w 20.1" Widescreen LCD and the other has an NEC 20WMGX² 20.1" widescreen LCD. Both LCDs run at the same rez of 1680x1050, and can supposedly handle up to 75Hz though I run them at 60Hz.

Hi all, I'm new around here. :) I have two almost identical systems. They aren't really top shelf, but they're ok. Since I do allot of tech work, in addition to other stuff including school, I'd like to load Vista on at least one system and use it for a while. Just to get used to how to shut off all...
