Re: Be Quiet! Pure Power L8 700W Power Supply Review

My guess is that it's an "in general" statement. If the Be Quiet! power supply was $15+ more than a Corsair, PC Power and Cooling, Thermaltake, etc. Which would you go with? Most would go with a more well known company if it was cheaper, rather than taking a chance on a new unproven compan...

Re: Opinions on Laptop hard drive

I've had really good luck with the Seagate hybrid drives, great speed, can be close to an SSD for really commonly used files, but mass storage when needed.

Re: Intel NUC Kit D54250WYK Review

I'm only guessing, but I assume it's because the NUC NIC drivers aren't included with the Windows installation. Which is pretty common when there is a change in the NIC chips until Windows installation gets updated.

Re: Gourmet Club Apple Wedger Should Be Recalled

My question is why move away from the tried and true all metal design for something injection molded... oh I know, because plastic breaks. My mom has an all stainless apple slicer that she bought when I was a toddler, my kids use it now. Key thing to notice is that it was purchased years ago, when ...

Re: Reinstalling Windows Vista 64bit?

Depending on how corrupt it is, you have several options. In order of least system damaging Try the Vista Roll-Back feature, if it's been configured Use the Vista install disc and try to repair the installation Reinstall Vista over the current install, data will remain; will have to reinstall softwa...

Re: Corsair Vengeance K95 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

I'm still using the TT Meka G-Unit since I broke my Challenger keyboard. I've gotten used to it and my speed has come back from it. The only complaint I have is the placement of the \. Just seems weird for it to be down there, and when I go to work it's in the "normal" place... Don't take ...

Re: Benchies with Kingston V300 120GB SSD

I would definetly do a fresh install of WIndows 8. I went from Windows 8 to WIndows 8.1 through the upgrade, and little things left behind and changes drove me up the wall. Plus I can feel my system is a bit slower. Whether that's 8.1 or not, can't say until I do a fresh install, which I had planned...

Re: Corsair Vengeance K95 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

I doubt it, but maybe Best Buy or a local computer shop? Plus they'd probably only have one or two of the different switches, each of the switches really do feel different.

On several new Haswell based systems, I ran benchmarks on them...

CDM
HD Tune
HD Tach

ATTO
Performance Test

Most of them had the SSD's maxing the read out between 250 and 300MB/s and 100 and 150MB/s write. ATTO and Performance Test had read 500 - 520MB/s and 125 - 150MB/s write..

I've been seeing mixed results like this on some SSD's lately. CDM used to my go to for performance, sadly though I'm having to look at a couple to get a good picture of the drive

Re: need a new laptop soon w/ powerful processor and graphic

Do you use the laptop on the go (coffee shops/on the road) or just need portability to take it from one office to another, hotel use? Could look into an ITX system with a PCI-E video card, and a small portable USB type monitor. I have a Lenovo USB monitor that I use when I'm on the road, it's a 17&q...

Re: Cloning Two O/S Partitions To Two Separate Drives

Yea, I have experience with the phone activation as well, it's pretty easy to do. I'd go ahead and do the install on the secondary drive and do the phone activation. Tell them you had to replace the system due to the motherboard failing if they ask why you're reinstalling. Never had an issue with do...

Re: Drawing Tablets - Like Wacom

That's something I know he'd prefer to have, but way too costly. I have been looking at getting an Android tablet to use (like Galaxy 7), just not sure how well those would work with some of the drawing apps, if they are powerful enough, etc.

Drawing Tablets - Like Wacom

Anybody have experience with various drawing tablets, like the Wacom tablets? Starting to look at x-mas type gifts, and this would be perfect for one of the kids. Wacom's are pretty expensive for the good ones, I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives though... I know there are some by Adesso and Gen...

Re: Cloning Two O/S Partitions To Two Separate Drives

I've never heard of anybody splitting it like you're trying. What you might be able to do is clone the drive as it is, and then edit the main boot loader to remove the OS boot choice you want, and delete the partition that it was on? Might work for the primary OS/partition but doubtful for the secon...
