Re: AMD Phenom Benchmarking - 2Ghz X4 GP 9000 Tested
Seems like the first cores to hit market always need improvement, I wonder if they do it to recoup research money early, cause later on you know their going to make changes and increase speed. Generally though I never buy the new stuff immediately, let it age for 6 months and get reviews (and price ...

Re: Phenom Mobo Quad PCIE 2.0 Graphics, HT 3.0
After looking at the PCIE layout on that board I think quad PCIE video is like a dream (at least on that board), take a look at it. http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/directron_1976_239554490 If you install a high end card in the first Blue slot you cover the first pci slot, Install the second...

Re: Video card manufacturers
XFX, BFG, and EVGA are the three at the top of my list. The 90 day upgrade thing isn't to important to me though cause if I go out that much for video it's gonna be a year or so before I open my wallet for video again. (barring un-forseen lottery hits lol) My lowly Asus Nvidia Gforce 7300 GS PCIE is...

Re: Input on a new MOBO
Actually I looked at that MOBO, and really the only thing I didn't like was the ata 100 controller, most of my systems eventually the parts get stripped out one piece at a time and resold to customers. That usually means a pata HD, and the ata 100 controller won't provide as fast a performance as th...

Re: Video card manufacturers
You kinda confirmed what I already thought, XFX and BFG are the two I see high end users buying mostly. I'm, trying to hold out until they release the 8800gt for the alleged $100 price drop. I'm dual booting XP, and Vista and trying to get ready for the shift to Vista and directx 10. Appreciate the ...

Re: Input on a new MOBO
I'm probably not going to wait on the new chip sets, with my luck i'd get one with a fault, I know it's gonna be a 590 chip set, with 2 pcie 16 at full 16x, in case I want dual video, one thing i'm having trouble resolving is my pcie X-fi sound card, any board I pick has to have an available pcie 1x...

Video card manufacturers
I've kinda noticed that the high end users tend toward certain brands of video cards. I know that I'm going to an 8800 geforce card for directx 10 compatibility, probably the GT series when they release due to the $100 price drop from the higher end 8800s. (the ever persistent quest for future compa...

Great info on power supplies, each time I visit this forum I find useful info on the exact hardware I'm lusting on! I'm running a Soltec 550 PSU looking to upgrade it before I move into a high end video card. One question though Is Soltec one of those PSU I should run screaming to the PC and rip out...

Re: Asrock AM3NF3-VSTA front panel question..
Read this reply completely and understand it before you go dinking around with the board. If your having a power up/power down issue with an Asrock MOBO, just connect the power connector from the case to the MOBO, it goes on the connector toward the upper right of your picture, named pwrbtn# and the...

Re: Updating a BIOS
If your bios doesn't support some type of ezflash (socket "A" probably not) put boot files, bios update and flash utility on floppy, boot to the floppy, run the flash utility, select the bios flash file, and run it. On older boards if the flash fails you have a paper weight, so no updating...

Maybe a little off subject, Buy a Uninterpretable Power Supply from Wally World, I use the APC brand, their about $40. They protect against electrical disaster and provide $40,000 insurance against electrical damage to anything plugged into it. (they bought me a new tv a few months ago) We spend meg...

Re: Microsoft Windows Vista Hotfixes For NVIDIA Gamers
Appreciate the heads up, i'm running dual boot on two raid arrays just to avoid all the confusion. One with XP, one with Vista Ult, it'd be sweet if I could convert all 4 drives to a single raid 0 array and go back to one OP system.

XP/Vista Dual Boot with Blaster X-FI sound card
Well thought I'd post my latest headache. I successfully got Xp and Vista Ult. 32 bit to install and run on one machine. (don't ya just love having to pick from 6 or 8 flavors of Vista) Their both installed on separate RAID Arrays on the same machine, I pulled my 320 sata, and installed a 3rd...
