yes and by ridding your system of those settings is what causes the problems with installation of ATI's drivers as ATI have said time and time again do not use driver cleaner or driver sweeper when removing drivers just use the install manager provided by ATI reboot and install the latest downloadab...

Oh and just as an aside to previous post in regards to using driver cleaner ATI do not recomend you use it as it can cause more problems than it solves your advised to use the Catalyst install manager provided by ati to remove your drivers

Hi Foice whats the audio chip on it you could try going to the manufacturers website instead of Asus as i have found all of their drivers are old and outdated . If it's a realtek hd audio chip there are drivers out for it at version 1.95 from their site

:) well i d/l'd it try it and i got no errors when testing all available ram and i still had programs open and running i also did a few benchies with everest at the same time just see if it would cause an error to occure but nothing happend and memtest just kept on tickin along :-k

actually you old ati x850 does support DX9c but not DX10 id not bother with worrying about DX10.1 at the moment as said above there are no games or apps that use it and all it really does is make some parts of DX10 non optional if i were you I'd just do crossfire with another HD2900

so ok if the delete drive / reinstall still does not work try changeing the ide cable as sometimes these can cause the fault your describing evan just try removeing the cable and pluging it back in can also eleviate the problem which can be caused through thermal creep .. :shock: well thats bollocks as mine which is a gecube hd2600xt with a **** little hsf on it runs idle at 37 and sits on 54 full load so I'd say either your case has a serious cool air problem or the hsf on it is rubbish if you don't mind voiding you warranty then pull the hsf off and apply some afte...
