Re: Loud DVD drive
I would say don't worry about it, even my Wii's dvd drive gets really noisy. So unless you're having a green screen of death, or the red ring of death, i'd say crank up the volume and ignore it. But if it's really bothering you, just call MS tech support. They should be able to help.

Re: Anyone getting the Nintendo Wii?
Well, we just got our Wii with a bunch of extras. Let's see extra controlers, component cables, wireless sensing bar, rechargers with grips, and Wii Play. *whew* Got it online without a hitch and the family is loving it. We are all pretty clueless about what we are doing, but playing the sports gam...

Re: Should I get a PSP?
Nice... now sell it. the new "PSP Lite" is coming out sometime this year, and if you wait too long (right before the new model comes out, you might be able to sell it for 100 buck, just bring it back to FYE and get a refund, and wait a couple of months for the "lite" to come out....

Re: CRT vs LCD stress on video cards
I thought NFS: Carbon needed a DX9 card to even work? I would venture a guess that your CRT can do 640X480 but the minimum supported resolution of the LCD would be 800X600. Higher resolution means more pixels to put on the screen = lower FPS. EA fixed the Vista/DX10 problem, I'm running it w/ a DX1...

Hello Geeks
Hey all you computer geeks out there, I'm a geek too, my computer is an HP Pavilion XL753, and it's running Windows Me, with 318 megs of RAM, a 733Mhz Intel Celeron CPU and a 15.4 in CRT. It's the ultimate fragbox. Just kidding, we also have a Dell Dimension E520 with 2gigs of PC2-5300 RAM, a 2.13Gh...

other apps
Normally, I'll have other apps running, like media center, or MS PowerPoint, or "sidebar", I'm just wondering if there's any way to get the OS itself to not use so much RAM. So I can multi task, and not worry about the computer slowing down.

Vista's a RAM Hog
I just got Vista Home Premium the other day and I've noticed that it sux memory like nothing I've ever seen before. I turned off most of the apps that were running in the background, like the windows sidebar. and the only thing now that's running is the OS and Explorer (basically), and that alone is...

Why?
Couldn't Nintendo have acquired a company that would have been a little more useful, like Capcom or something?

I have a Wii, and i like it, but I'd say wait until Pokemon comes out. NOT FOR THE GAME, but to see how many bugs there are w/ the online mode. But even w/out Nintendo WFC, I still like the games, and you still have things like the Opera bowser, the Everybody Votes Channel, and the News channel and ...

Making a Partition
I am running LIVECD PCLinuxOS 2006, but I also have Windows Me, sadly, and I'm trying to dual-boot, what can I do to create the partitions that are needed for Linux to install?
