new system build need advice

hey guys am noob in computers so bare with me i kno how to assemble the hardware but its gets me when its time to install os and motherboard drivers i need help on what to do when i 1st boot the pc straight to installing the os. and i would like to know how to update my bios aswell. am buying from newegg my system consists of MB: asus p5n-d 750i nforce cpu:q6600 ram:crucial ballistix pc 6400 sli memory video: xfx 8800 gt revised one with bigger fan HD: western digital 7200 rpm 250gb cache 16mb OS:vista 64bit home prem thanks in advance O:)

If you would like to update your motherboard BIOS before the OS is installed you can either use a floppy or a USB key to do it. You need to head to the ASUS P5N-D motherboard download page and find the latest BIOS. Right now it is version 0304, which just came out three days ago on 2-22-2008. I'm not certain, but you should be able to put the BIOS on a USB key and then use the Flash utility in the BIOS to update it before you even put windows on the system.

As for the other software, just install the OS and use the driver disc that came with the system or download all the latest drivers from ASUS.

Apop pretty much covered it. Flash bios in advance if needed, then just insert your OS CD and boot it up.
