cpu requirment for and 8800gt?

Well ive bin doing alot a reading online about the 8800 series like the 8800 gt.alot of peolpe buy these gpu's and there cpu's bottle neck the performance, i was wondering whats the lowest cpu you can use to atleast get the best performance out of these gpu's and i think manufactures should start stating the card cpu requirement because on alot of forums people would be like once u have a 8800 gt your performance will b insane but what if you have a crappy system and you add dis 8800gt and there's not a breath taking experience there like everyone says.some1 please feel free to share your concern because this can cause alot people the headache when going to upgrade there computer.

The video card test bench that we use here on Legit Reviews has an Intel QX9650 processor (3GHz) with 4GB of DDR2 memory on an X38 chipset with Vista 64-bit... When I run the really high end cards on games like World in Conflict the QX9650 is the bottleneck... It's really seen when you run the GeForce 9800 GX2 or Radeon HD 3870X2... Throw in a pair of the GeForce 9800 GX2's or a set of Radeon HD 3870 X2's for Quad-SLI or CrossFireX and you get no scaling... I actually removed WIC from the new round of articles due to this.

All Intel CPU's will bottleneck CPU intensive games like WIC... When in doubt go bigger.

hmm so what clock speed on a cpu would you reccomend for like person that has like from a 8600 gt - 8800gts what clock speed would be sufficent to like push some performance out of these series cards because i i know alot people that play games but dont wanna spend to much on a cpu and besides the gpu is stressed more than the cpu in games anyways so whats your opinion guys feel free to jump in once again.

1 - You're asking a question that is more a matter of opinion than fact, so an answer is hard to give.

2 - The difference between an 8600gt and 8800gts g92 is huge, with one card being "middle speed" at best and the other card is "high end".

As you can see, I run an 8800GTS, E6850, and it completely spanks all current games including Crysis on high settings with ease. Even my last cpu, E6750 did the same. I currently run the E6850 at stock (3.0Ghz), and I ran the E6750 at 3.2Ghz. A friend of mine, and my son both run Q6600 with their 8800's and are getting very similar FPS to mine.

I also have a rig with an AMD 5200+ (2.6Ghz) and games don't fare nearly as well on it, so I cannot recommend it.

So while the answer you seek is not definitive imo, I do know that anything over a 3.0Ghz intel dual core does very well.

That's quite interesting... is that cpu still the bottleneck at 1920x1200 with AA/AF cranked up?

I'm asking because I've got a relatively slow cpu (2.8 GHz Athlon X2) paired with an 8800 GTS G92 card. Now, this is working fine, but I've got a second 8800 GTS card sitting around that I'm not using, which I was considering putting into SLI. Would I see any scaling, or do I need to upgrade to a 2560x1600 monitor?

Hahah, ironically, I don't even need close to this much power. I was doing fine with my 7900GT, but it got to the point where it was artifacting severely even on the desktop. So I bought an 8800 GTS to replace it, and rma'd the card to BFG. Ended up recieving a second 8800 GTS from BFG as a replacement for the 7900GT, which I was quite impressed with.

I am quite impressed with that myself. Makes me want to consider BFG for my future video card purchases.
