I ended up just scanning the hard drive on another computer. This was not easy. Its a Sony Viao and I can tell this thing was not ment to be opened i broke a most of the plastic clips holding the side panel on. Once inside there was no way to get the hard drive out without some major removal of metal. So I just rigged the hard drive up to a external case, and connected via a USB.. finally a real virus scan!!! well 111 different virus/trojans/back-door whatevers.... were found and cleaned. Alas I thought now were ready to rock. nope that would be to easy. were back to the whole restart its self right after the XP load screen.. just much faster. I cant even start in safe mode. I tried to do a repair install but nobody seems to remember the admin password. Is there anyway to reset the admin password when I cant even get it to load?

I remember seeing this the other day. to reset the admin password
http://forums.legitreviews.com/about14886.html

I made a BartPe disk last night so i am going to give this a try.. thanks Bubba

i just noticed: on this site it says "and set administrator rights to existing user on your NT system"
http://www.kood.org/windows-password-renew/

XP is not an NT system is it? .. edit -> nevermind i guess it is.

Glad you've got it to a workable point again.

Make sure you put on AVG or Avast and show them how to update it :P
