Glad You Reviewed the Asrock 775 Dual VSTA

Post by Victour »

That is my choice because my MSI board will not post after the Power Supplu Popped.. It was still under Warrenty so it is now Fixed. but I have to kiss the pretty usless MB goodbye. I was so worried that I would have to throw my ATi X800 Pro away or something I feel like I just bought it for $500. Hard to come by money.
I will upgrade my Cpu to a Intel core 2 Duo. I could run all my games maxed out with no lag and I am hoping this will be as good or better. Even My Memory was $125 each. for 512 mhz. =1024 mhz ,Glad I can still use it also and add another Gig for less money... :)
MSI MB P6N SLI PLATINUM , Intel 6420 Duo Core2, 2 Sata 80 Gig Raid 0 and one PATA Maxtor 80 Harddrive. NVidia SLI 8600 GT OC, Realtek onboard Sound Card because of knowen problems with Creative Audigy and VISTA, PC Power and cooling 510 Watt Power Supply 35 Amp 5V 34Amp +12v. OCZ 2048 Mhz Memory and 1024 Kingston all 667 SyncMaster 245 BW Monitor...

WoW ! Looking at the newer graphic Cards I see that there are several that may Outrun my poor ole ATI X800 Pro.. like the HD 2600 Pro with 256 m DDR 3 for only $104. Is this card a big improvement or just a small one.? I still use GL on a lot of games. or DX 9 I see this one is not ready for DX10..? So now i am confused as to what to do. Just upgrade for a small amount of money. I will never pay top Dollar for New Tech today... Hardware again. because in 6 months it will be old Technology... it cost me $500 for $60 graphics card. $225 for MSi Mb with only the prescott upgrade. then they changed from the 478 socket to the 775. So much for upgrades there. The Pc power and cooling 510 Power supply is still under warrenty and not outdated on all newer boards. My Memory cost me $138. for 512 mhz X 2  :( :-({|= :-({|=

yeah the ATI 1800 is starting to look dated a bit, but no worries as no really great DX10 games are out yet... later this year that won't be the case ;) If I were you i'd wait to upgrade as new ATI and NVIDIA graphics cards are coming out Q4 of this year.

Up date ! the X800 pro was popped also when I plugged it in my new ASrock Dual Sata Motherboard . it would direct short and all fans would come to a Halt.. I bought a MSI NVidia 8600 GT SLI thinking into the future Well it worked perfect and Everything worked great.. Played doom 3 and Quake 4 until the shooting got hectic . Well the PCI-E Slot is only 4X . So I pulled the board and installed a MSI P6N Nvidia SLI Platinum and a 6420 Intel CPU.. The system shows up as a 5.1 on Vista... the Cpu is a 5.1 and the Raid Setup shows as a 5.1 the Graphics Card is a 5.9 3Gig of memory is 5.6 I was trying to run Dual Boot with a PATA Drive using XP But something caused them after to many upgrades to be unable to Boot.. I think it was when I upgraded the IDE Controllers from the NEt.. so now I am just running the Raid 0 .. I copied the raid 0 from the Via setup by mirroring the Disc and it still works great .. when I installed Vista on it after the Crash I did not touch the F6 or any type of raid setup and it was there for me.. waiting for my other 8600 GT to see how it performs.. I need to change my Sig Soon... I will Add a SATA2 500 Gig Hard Drive 300Mps which I feel will out perform my Raid setup.
