best motherboard for me?

Post by JohnDorian »

Hey i wanna purchase a good crossfire motherboard.

My computer's specs are as follows:
850watt power supply
2 x Sapphire HD 4850's
GA-P35-DS3P
Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66g
4 gig ram
windows vista 32 bit

I'm deliberating between a few boards. Asus P5E, Asus P5E Deluxe or GA-X48-DS4. Are there many sufficient differences between each or between X38 and X48 chipsets in general?

do you plan on going with an SSD hard drive in the next couple years or as long as you on a motherboard? Might want to think about an Intel ICH10R southbridge if you think you might.

if you want ddr3, x48. if you want ddr2, save money and get x38. they really are the exactly the same, but x48's are binned higher for use with highspeed ddr3

I'm highly confused about the SSDs... From the reviews I saw for laptops. They use MORE energy for some reason, and then they are slower.

Na i don't plant to use SSD drives to answer your question. So your saying X38 chipsets cannot use DDR3 ram and if so, to what extent? I think i'm gonna go with Asus P5E, the X38 one, but can someone enlighten me on the cons. I think its missing eSata or something like that. Not quite sure what it is though.

How about a Giga Byte GA-EP45C-DS3R? It stands pretty high in my book.
