not sure what ya meant on that last post( i looked thru whole thread and couldnt figure out what u meant) but regardless of that, I concur with Major on the 650 watt..or if you want to stick around the 800 watt range the TX-750 will do great too. I ran 2 gtx285's off of a tx-750 not too long ago so 2 gtx260's in SLI will be no sweat(if that's what you were gettin at on previous post)

haha lol sorry should of been more specific but anyway as long as i can get the TX750 for under a £100 then i'm happy. my only problem then, would be installing it as that is the only part of my rig that i didnt do myself as i found that hard but thx for all your help guys!

EDIT: after looking about i couldn't find the tx750 for under £100 as that is my budget but i did find these. can you let me know which one would be best for what i need it for. i mean one that wont cut out on me like this one.

The only one I saw worth the money was the OCZ PSU. the others I know nothing of the brands so I will not/can not say anything for them

Only one in the list that isn't bad is the OCZ. The only other one in that list that is worth anything other than a paper weight is the Hiper. If you asked for our suggestions and input why did you totally disregard our answers?

Any of the mentioned PSUs on the previous page will run your system with dual 260's. By the time you get two 260's I hope you will have at least updated your monitor seeing as you are probably wasting your money now with 2 9800GT's.

ok with that in mind i will be getting the tx 650. if it can run 2 260's in sli then i will have a good upgrade point but just one other question, what would you say the tx 650 can be upgraded to at the max? i mean processor, gpu's, memory and monitor as they all use wattage and i will only have a 650.

Your monitor doesn't run off the psu! :axe:

According to the PSU calc at outervision;

Core i7 overclocked to 4Ghz
2x GTX 285 in SLI
12GB DDR3
3x Sata drives
DVDRW
6x 120mm fans

uses:
+3.3V | +5V | +12V
6.4 A | 11.2 A | 45.6 A

and so you'd still have about 50W free on the 12v line.

Needless to say, it should last you a while in terms of upgrading hardware.

The one he quoted.

He's trying to make sure you understand that at 1280x1024 SLI is wasted.
(yes, that's right, you are not making good use of your current SLI setup on that monitor)

At 1680X1050 you still won't need 2 260's in SLi. Though it might be the sweet spot for some of the newer games on those 9800GT's. Hell I grew up with Atari and Nintendo so I don't need 8XQS AA and 16XHAF to enjoy a game. With that said I haven't come across a game at 1680X1050 that my single 260 can't handle adequately (i.e. still look good enough for me). Anything lower than 2560X1600 and you are wasting your money on 2 260's and that's my opinion.

For the price of 2 260's you would be better served just buying 1 GTX 275.

maybe but lets see what the future price of those could be. maybe nice and cheap but then i'm sure that the latest games will soon (on the reverse of the case) reccomend a gtx 260 and above as at the mo it is the 8600gt and above. that will put the price on hold when they start to reccomend them. ok they say to always have a card setup better than reccomended if you want smooth gameplay with high detail but not everyone wants high detail just good enough to get smooth gameplay.

I honestly have no idea what you just said. I'm recommending that you get a better card than the GTX 260, the GTX 275 (it isn't that much more expensive). I am also saying since you are looking at a monitor that only goes to the resolution of 1680x1050 then 2xGTX 260's will be wasted. Just because you have a SLi capable motherboard means that you need to use it.
