Klipsch Pro Media Ultra 5.1 Died (NO SOUND)

Post by Dragon_Cooler »

Very Sad panda!

I came in to watch a movie on my MCPC and out of the blue there was no sound. There is power, but no sound at all. I looked online and apparently its a big problem with the pro media ultras. Its not a matter of if, but when they will go out. One person reported they sent it in 3 times to get fixed and same thing every time.

R.I.P. MY babies! It was a lovely 5 years.

:( [-o<

Time to save up for some replacements. Im thinking the logitech Z-5500's.

If it makes you feel any better my motherboard decided to kill itself after a BIOS flash today. That cost me another $150. Instead of 5 years this thing was just under 4 months old.

Dude, you can get new BIOS chips for about $20, so i'd look up one of those (Provided you've already looked into getting it replaced under warantee and that's a no-go).

Not when they are soldered to the board. Gigabytye actually offered to fix it, I was shocked. I specifically told them though I used their @BIOS application. I guess from now on I'll just use a thumb drive and do it from the actual BIOS.

The Z-5500's are an Excellent Choice!
I have the Z-680's and a friend has the Z-5500's, that gave me the opportunity to compare the two and the 5500's edged out my 680's and my 680's sound good!
If/When my 680's go I will be looking at the 5500's!

BTW...Before I bought my 680's I compared them with the Klipsch and IMHO my 680's sounded better!
