Loud Case Fan

Post by deleted »

I'm sure everyone has had problems with side case fans before, and now my time has come. The fan is a green L.E.D 90CFM/19 db-A fan from www.coolermaster.com.
Rated as 120mm, 50,000 hours of life, and 2000 RPM. I currently have it set up on my side panel blowing air onto my XFX 9600 GSO. The noise from it spinning is enough to irritate me 24/7 even when gaming WITH MY NOISE CANCELING FULL-EAR HEADPHONES (GAH!! ). I've singled out all of my other fans which consist of one in the back blowing out hot air, and my CPU heatsink which both run very quiet. 1. Do I even need to keep this thing in there? 2. How can I make it quieter if possible?

Help Would be Appreciated :D!

Well if the fan is rated at 19dba and is so loud you can hear it with head phones on tells me that that the bearings in the fan are shot.

If you really don't need the LED part take a look at the Noctua NF-S12B FLX fan, you will be more then happy with its silence and performance.

Yate Loon fans are also exceptional, but my favorite are Scythe S-Flex fans. Stay away from Thermaltake fans, but maybe an Antec Tri-Cool would suit your needs as well.
