How to connect game console to PC than to Monitor?

Post by lordvic »

I want to know how to connect a game console to my PC. [ xbox360/Wii --> PC --> Monitor |Possibly + sound to my 5.1 speakers|
So I've been trying to figure out if it's possible, and I'm quite stuck.

I have a Sapphire 4850 512MB, 20" (1680 x 1050) monitor with VGA and DVI input.

The card has: 2 DVI, and 1 S-video output.

The package came with:
- S-video-to-Video (which is the yellow colored) adapter.
-S-video-to-the RGB adapter.

Do I need a TV tuner? or... I pretty sure I need a converter to convert the: DVI -> RGB/S-video...whatever.

**Just thought there could be an alternative when the big HD TV is occupied**

Why do you want it going to your pc?
If the only reason is to get it on your pc monitor they get a pc monitor with more then one input and have it switch between your pc and your game console.

There is no way to connect a console to your computer and then run them through your video card and sound card. Your best bet, like the guys above said, is to get a switching device for your monitor and speakers.

I hooked my Nintendo 64 and my GameCube up to my rig using my TV tuner..wasn't a very good experience..mainly since the system were too low in resolution to look good on a widescreen(expected), but i think the tuner program sucked for it..more ghosting than when i hooked them up to my Dell screen directly..so yea...TV tuner or a monitor with the inputs(better quality IMO) are the only ways I know of..

I see, so the most reasonable way is to have a TV/monitor with HDMI....damn. Just wanted to know if it was possible...when a bunch of friends are over...you know... :?
