Re: LAPTOP HDD LOCK!!HELP
boot into safemode and log in to the administrator account and reset the password for her account.
or if you dont remember that password, use the Gateway restore disks to reinstall.
or if you dont want to do that buy a password recovery program or look on the net for a free solution.

Re: LAPTOP HDD LOCK!!HELP
If you can't remember the password and you don't want to be troubled with finding a way to change or reset it, you can always format and reinstall the OS. Gateways have an OEM Windows COA so the reinstall will be 100% legit for validation.
Re: LAPTOP HDD LOCK!!HELP
If it is an actual HDD BIOS Password lock as the thread title implies, I.e. You have to enter the password as soon as the laptop is switched on before windows even starts booting, then try taking the laptop battery out, unplugging the
power chord. Then try pressing the power button a of couple of times, then put everything back in and see if it has gone away.

Re: LAPTOP HDD LOCK!!HELP
You might have to take it apart to get to the lithium battery. Some however are soldered to the system board in laptops I think. That is if it is a bios password that you need to get around.
