RAM Problem

Mmk, So here's my issue. When I built my desktop I put in 4GB (2x2) TEAM Xtreem DDR2 1066MHz RAM. First problem is that one of my sticks died, so whenever I put it in, the computer will not boot up. Second of all, it's showing up as 400MHz. My motherboard has 1066MHz compatibility, so I don't see why it's showing up as 400MHz. I have tried to get the RAM RMA'd, but TEAM says that I have to send both sticks, and as I don't want to have my computer out of action for 3 months and don't have any DDR2 floating around, that's not an option. Only possible reason for this, in my eyes is that TEAM are mis-advertising, or they don't run at maximum speed Un-ganged. Please help!

Most memory modules default to a slower speed and timings on the spd 'auto configure' by the BIOS. This is so they'll work straight away on most mobos (i.e. the one's that are finicky about settings or don't support 1066.

All you can do is manually change all the BIOS settings for your RAM to what they are advertised at (i.e. Speed, Voltage, Timings).

Ok. I have looked through the BIOS, and there was a setting for RAM speed, but the only option was 400MHz or 266MHz. I haven't had a look at voltages/timings.

Is the board you are using the one in your sig? (DFI LP DK-790FX M2RS)

Because I can't find anything that says that it supports 1066Mhz RAM.

Yes, I am using the DFI LP DK 790FX M2RS. If you look at the RAM support section, it has 1000MHz and 1066MHz RAM listed. Even so, it should be able to run at 800MHz. Also, 800 and 1066MHz are on the list, but greyed out.

Okay guys, not to worry, I fixed the problem! I had a look through the BIOS options and there was a setting called RAM timings mode. When I set this to 'MaxMemoryClk' the 800 and 1066MHz Options opened up, which I obviously selected! Thanks for your help anyways.
