How to overclock a Intel D975XBX2
Hey guys. New to the forum and i have a question. I have a Intel D975XBX2 Board ( Bad Axe ) with a flash of the newest bios intel has for it and i can seem to get it to overclock. I have 2 Sticks of ddr2 PC5400 By PQI which i have set to 4-4-4-12 but i can seem to get the Core 2 Duo i have to clock up. Its orginally 1.86GHz, if i use Clock Gen i can get the CPU Clock as high as 2166MHz but if i restart windows, the bios catches me and tells me that it has detected i failed start and to hit Y to enter bios to change the settings back. I understand my CPU is ancient but i have overclocked it before in a Asus P5B Deluxe and if i remember correctly, even with crummy ram i still got it to about 2.23GHz. I have a Gigabyte GT220 Video card and 4 Gigs of pc5400 PQI ram. Any ideas?

Looks like you may have to start the process over off finding the sweet spot. Just because the settings work on one board don't mean it will translate to another. Loosen the RAM timings, start in the basement for the CPU and starts stepping your way up.

I tried stepping the fsb in increments of 5 and once i stepped the the board up 10fsb, it wont post. Stock fsb is 266, so once it hits 277, it wont let me post. Im using Vista 32 bit, is this the problem perhaps?

I used the BX2 for the test bench (been a while, over a year ago) I don't remember what the bios looks like. Going back to my notes for the Q6600 I was using all I have wrote down is the voltages.
Start @ 2.4GHz. Changed the CPU voltage: 1.435V, FSB Voltage: 1.30V, Memory Voltage: 2.24V, result: 3.0GHz

Ok, i cant get the fsb above 277 still with the setting even listed below. Tried about 10 different ways and nada!
