Hi everyone, i have a problem with my download speed as no matter where i test the download and upload speed on speedtest.net i gewt the same download speed which is stuck at 2.42mbps and i know i have 16mbps download speed as i was getting that until yesterday.
Here are some tests i did on speedtest.net and as you can see my download speed is the same no matter what the location is!

does your ISP slow down your connection if you download too much in a certain period of time? I've seen stuff like that on some ISP's as a penalty so you you don't hog all the bandwidth.
Since it was fine yesterday and you were checking it, I am guessing you were doing some downloading.
Can you login to your modem and post the DSL stats from your line?
Synched rate
attenuation (lower dB is better)
SNR levels (higher dB is better)
CRC errors (There will proly be some, not necessaraly a prob)
Have you tested it with a single pc connect via cable to the modem, with all other devices/pc's disconnected?
Also, try download something like a Linux ISO file from a local free FTP server and see what speed it levels off at.
Speed test sites can be very busy or having problems.
i have rang them up and they report no problems and that my connection is fine but i can only download at 295kbps when i was downloading at 1.5mbps and they say there isn't a problem! anyway they restarted my network for me and still the same problems persists!

Noise margin (SNR) of 6dB is right at the limits of DSL, it really should be above ~8dB
it sounds to me like your connection is dropping, but so quick it looks like slow speeds or else you have a lot of packet loss
try "mrtg ping probe" (google it) and ping a bunch of servers, your dns, legitreviews, bbc.co.uk etc and see if it shows any packet loss or high latency on your isp's network
Glad to hear you got your speeds again, but a SNR that low is very bad. It can cause intermittent drops of sync and tons of errors on the channel(s)
suppose if its stable for you, then there's no problem but I watch out for it. Having filters on all phone sockets, even if not in use and having the modem on the first socket that comes in to the house will help.
You could also give BT faults a call and ask for a line test. They will ask you to hangup and call you back after ~2mins and then let you know if you have a fault (low resistance, short etc.) or not.
If a fault comes back, they will send out a line tech. They may not have tested the line when you called support as they are proly more concerned about the ip network and than the copper one.
