Traveling ot Australia/New Zealand - Laptop Concerns
I'm leaving for Australia/New Zealand in 2 weeks. I have purchased an outlet adapter kit for my netbook. Is there anything else I need to be concerned about such as voltage with bringing a US market netbook to oceania?
Re: Traveling ot Australia/New Zealand - Laptop Concerns
does the adapter have 115/230v switch? or auto?

The adapter is just an outlet adapter, not a transformer/voltage regulator.
My netbooks PSU states it's good for between 100-240v.

I googled this and found that New Zealand is 230v @ 50hz. The US cycles at 60hz so be sure the adapter addresses that issue as well.

Your power brick should be fine. It doesn't need a switch or anything like that. You'll just need to buy the section of cable from the power brick to the wall and that should be it. I have cords for pretty much all the world, so if you need to borrow one just let me know (sounds like you already have a kit though).
Might want to check with the airline and see what plugs they have on the plane. My flight to Asia in June had 110v power plugs on each seat, but I flew business class.

Yeah, business class is outside my budget. Heck, my ticket for coach on Air New Zealand was $1500. I don't believe I have an AC outlet on my seat. I'm leaving LA 11:59 PM anyway and planned to sleep at least 6-8 hours of the flight to try and avoid jet lag. I have a couple audio books and Jeff Wayne's musical version of "War of the Worlds" ready to load on my iPhone to listen to on the way there. I do appreciate the offer though!

You might have better luck trying to score some Ambien or Xanax for the plane ride.
If you don't mind what are you going for? Work or pleasure or a bit of both?

Pleasure.
I'm going to be doing a self guided tour of the north island of New Zealand landing in Aukland, going through Toupu, and ending in Wellington where some friends and I are going to attend a convention. From there we fly to Melbourne for a week where I'm going to do some touring and attend WorldCon.

Sweet. Have fun. Last trip I took for pleasure was 9 years ago to Acapulco.
