Bios Settings?

I have been going through my bios settings and there are a few things i came across that i thought would be a good isea to see what they did and if the default setting was best or if it could be changed to improve things!

ok so here are the settings:

Memory Remap Feature - Allow or not allow re-mapping of overlapped PCI memory above total physical memory - ENABLED, What does this do?

Chipset Voltage - AUTO
VTT Voltage - AUTO
GTLREF Voltage - AUTO will any changing of these voltages been any help!

in general higher voltages aid stability when overclocking, at the cost of greatly impacting the temps (and you can generally overvolt way more than necessary and still be stable depending on the temp.)

as for the remap thing: no clue

thx for the help there skier m8 however i will see if i can find some info on the remap but had no luck so far

i think the memory remap is for devices like the video card that require the memory to be mapped. So if you had a card with 756 MB of memory this would be mapped withing the first 4 GB of memory. I think (not sure on this) the remapping allows it to be mapped elswhere outside the normally reserved parameters.

The "Re-map" option is to aid when using a 32bit OS and more than 4GB of RAM.
It tells the Bios to use the portion of RAM over 3.2GB for PCI devices and IRQ's

Changing the "GTLREF" (Gunning transever logic reference voltage) can and does help with overclcoking the HT bus and or memory.
Most boards today already choose a good setting when "AUTO" is selected and changing this normally only helps with getting the last few MHz
On older Sckt 775 boards running C2Q CPU's, this is a vital setting to push the FSB up, but as I said, newer boards have good "AUTO" defaults now.

As for the "VTT" voltage, again most boards use a good setting for "AUTO"
It normally runs at 1/2 the chipset voltage (for chipset vtt) and 1/2 the mem voltage for the memory VTT setting.
Can be useful to increase a little to help stabalise things, but only after fine tuning the main settings

thx kenc51 thats just what i needed to know so have now disabled the remap as i have a 64bit OS! no change though lol!
