iPod Experiment - Success!
iPod Experiment - Success!
I've had an iPod Mini that I keep in my car for a long time now. I bought it knowing the battery won't hold a charge. So far it's been rocking away in my car. I opted for the lack of space rather than haul around my 80GB Classic. Some time ago I came across an instruction set to change the hard drive to a compact flash card. As it's cold and I'm bored as hell I decided to give it a go. I pulled the old Hitachi drive and replaced it with a Transcend 4GB CF 300x card. Hopefully now when I tell it to go to the next song in the shuffle it will be instantaneous.

My stepdad's iPod Click Wheel (yeah, that was the big innovation that model) has been dead for a year now when he asked if I wanted it. After transplanting the Mini's drive I decided to look at his device. I spent 30 minutes trying to get my way inside the damn thing. It was a big no go and I was on my way to the PC to see what iTunes said when it turned on. As of right now it seems to be working just fine. Maybe the drive had a stuck head that I jarred lose while trying to open it up. I don't know and I don't care really. I prefer things that just fix themselves. So he should be pleasantly surprised when I let him know it's working again.
