Apology to Sapphire

In a previous thread on this forum I slighted Sapphire for not backing up the warranty on their product after they refused to replace my video card that had several resisters explode. While the video card did have failed components, after disassembling my rig in order to install a new motherboard and video card I now think that the true culprit was a leak from my CoolIT DM-1000 Domino A.L.C. CPU Cooler. The day before my computer stopped working I had turned my computer on its side in order to install another 6 GB of RAM and I believe that’s when some of the fluid in the Domino leaked out and caused a short. While taking apart my old rig I found a lot more fluid which I’m hoping doesn’t turn what has already been a $700 price to pay for installing what ended up being a shoddy water cooler into a $1000+ mistake. My sincere apologies to Sapphire for disparaging their video cards and customer service. I will not hesitate to again use their products in the future!

what part of the cooler leaked? and that seriously sucks, been there myself a couple of times.

All of the fluid has leaked out so it's a bit hard to tell but I'm guessing that it was probably one of the fittings where the hose is connected to the heat-sink.

I still question why they wouldn't replace a card with blown capacitors.. given at the time you perceived that as the reason.

could have cited the domino as the problem if you originally listed using one. They all fail (Leak) within a couple months, Just ask knightrid

I thought the same thing when I found out that mine had leaked. I think I even posted how much I liked the Domino on the thread he created about it.

There was a scorch mark on the card and Sapphire stated that they don't replace cards that have been damaged by electrical discharge even if it's caused by failure of a component. It's a chicken or the egg thing: did the failed component cause the electrical problem or did the electrical failure cause the component to blow. They tend to side with the one that saves them money. The lamest thing is that my Domino literally failed the day after the warranty was up!

I replaced the ASUS P6T Deluxe that got trashed with a x58 Sabertooth and the Sapphire duel core 4850 with an HIS HD 6950 2GB card. The Domino I replaced with a nice and dry, ultra quiet Zalman CNPS 10x. The upside is that my rig is now actually much less noisy!

My main rig's Windows decided to take a dive on me the other day. I've been procrastinating reinstalling Windows since I need to move a bunch of stuff to another case. Right now it's running a Swiftech loop that I'm not going to be reusing. The Xigmatek heastsink I already have coupled with a few fans does a better job cooling my Q9550 than the Swiftech loop ever did. On top of that the heat from the radiator isn't dumped directly into my room making it 5 degrees (F) hotter than the rest of the house.
