Lost Registry Asus K50IJ-RX05 laptop

Post by unfaithfulsfan »

Hey everybody!
Have this laptop from the son of the Deputy Mayor of our village. Said he plugged in ethernet cable from the cable modem and the screen went black. Now it will not boot. Message says it has lost the registry and needs the system disk (which, of course, is not available anymore #-o).

I want to pull the hard drive so I can access the restore point manually but I'll be dipped in squid poop if I can figure out how to get the drive out without dismantling the case. Has anyone worked on one of these before? If so, how does the hdd come out? :-k

Thanks!
Jack

There isn't a restore partition on the hard drive? With my Eee PC with the stock XP install there was an option to access it and back the laptop up to system defaults.

Salvation!! He found the restore disk!!

Good thing, too, because my Vista disk wouldn't work and there isn't a restore partition that I that I could access.

Guess the world will never know? :?

Thanks a million!
