Difficult Decision

Post by LastShark »

Hi there everyone. Just joined your site today. Been reading this site for sometime.
I have a bit of a dilemma. I would like to build myself a new Desktop PC.
I can't decide if I should go for the LGA1155 or LGA1366 motherboard.
Can anyone enlighten me on it?
If I go for the LGA1155 then I would probably go for the 2600k Sandy Bridge CPU.
Otherwise the i7-970 if I were to go for the LGA1366.
But I don't know which to choose. I use processing power, i.e. applications not games.
Anyone with advice?

what applications specifically? the only way the 970 is better is if you are actually using all 12 threads or all 6 native cores
