Upgrade advice requested (Delimma that is)

Post by DaddyRabbit »

My rig is in my signature.

I have some spare cash (a rarity these days) and have a choice to make. I can

A) Upgrade my existing i7 920 rig and use the mobo, CPU, and RAM for my 16 year old's rig and repurpos his existing E6850 rig for recording music.

B) Replace the head unit and XM Onyx receiver in my 2006 GTO with a BT capable after market unit and integrated XM. The current head unit doesn't have ANY BT integration, no AUX input, and no USB.

To be honest, I have been getting less and less jazzed about computer upgrades lately and the i7 920 is working just fine. I don't have USB 3.0 or SATA III but what I do have is a pretty nice rig with E-SATA (no need for USB).

What I have been leaning toward for the PC upgrade, if I go that way, is:

and

I'm leaning toward the stereo upgrade as I don't think I'll get much of a noticeable performance gain for the cost but thought I'd ask...
