that's about the same thing here in SC.....with jobs drying up and all, it's hard to find a good job to balance all the rising essential bills, and high-speed at the same time (I know this one from experience, I'm doing that presently).....if cable and DSL companies would learn to loosen their prices a bit, maybe they can get a higher volume of customers.

I can't speak for any company, but from what I know, the price of DSL is due to 2 main reasons..Cost to enable the service and competition..

this applies to dsl over phone lines

The lines need to replaced.....exchanges need to be upgraded and the backbone needs to be upgraded. This all costs money...most money is spent on the exchanges as they requier after hours work and a certified tech callout for say 5-6 8hr shifts after hrs, mayby 2-3 time a month for 5-6mths cost ALOT of money (nothing ever goes as planned....) (enabling a single line after the main work is done takes ~20mins!)

then there's competition, Unless there's real competition the prices never change (competition will only come after exchange/network work is done)

Simply.......just wait...it will come....soon'ish -> unless your out in the stick's.....(ADSL+2 can't even reach that far....LOL)

Good thing I live in the city, lol......I plan on moving close to St. Louis if I do indeed decide to move to MO....I gotta have my high-speed, it's just like that....after you taste something so frickin sweet, you don't want to delve into something that is considered sub-par...so yeah, I plan on maintaining high-speed access wherever I go....I'm so vain and materialistic, lol :ANAL:
